Saw those evap things when I was in LA...pain in the ass but not unusable. What are they for anyway? are they required?
Yup, they're required by state law. I think they supposedly help prevent vapors from escaping into the air. Other states have begun adopting them so they must have some benefit. (Though since we're talking about state emissions controls here, they may just be for show.)
Thanks, I had an i dea that was what it was for but wasn't sure. Must be some kind of vacuum that sucks the vapors back into the tank? Also, didn't know that gas vapors from pumps were a major pollutant...learn something new everyday i guess...oh and sorry

BOT...I haven't experienced problems fueling...a little spillage sometimes but no big deal.

it may have been taboo but it might just still have the most views of any thread on MV. Thanks for the bump!

I'm assuming quite a few people have over filled as i did once. My gauge said E after it was uncrated having been sent via air to Hawaii. So i assumed i could put a little less than what the tank held. WRONG it was almost full and the gauge remained on E even when full until i hit about 800 miles. Now it says 1/2 when it is full. LX series is notorious for faulty gauges but have seen where other models have it too. Only did it once but that was once to many

I must have gotten one of the good ones. The fuel gauge on my LX is pretty accurate and linear.

When I fill it to the pump shut-off, it reads just a hair's breadth shy of the full mark. After 20-25 miles it reads 3/4. 1/2 at about 45-50 miles. 1/4 at about 70-75 miles, and E at 100 miles (but still off the peg). The warning light also starts flickering reliably at about 95 miles. The mileages used to be a little higher, but I've been taking advantage of some of my minor performance mods, and my mpg has dropped from the high 60s to the low 60s.

SILVER with some of the LX things it has appeared to be a color thing Weird. I never pursued it since i hear it should eventually work. Once my light comes on i have about 20miles before i run out of gas. Give or take. I live on an island so i'm not to worried about it. It did move off of E at around 800 miles and is a little above 1/2 now at 1000 miles. I love Italian made stuff.
