My scoot.net ad netted an email from a guy in Orlando with two smallframes for sale. They're both $900 each. Here's the breakdown he gave me. I'll include one picture for those at work and such, but I'll also link up his page with several pictures of each at the bottom. As always, this place is a regular sinkhole of experience, so I value y'all's opinions the most.

He says the dates may not be exact, but offered to look them up for me if need be.

1981* Euro 50 Special (square headset) - Blue
Has an ET3 (125cc) motor in it.
Stopped running and I haven't looked at it. I'm guessing its something
simple but I've literally done nothing but push it around. Decent
physical shape. Daily driver type of wear.
Previous owner put a P series horncast on it.
New regulator.
New slope seat. (Its actually kinda of crappy but it is new)
New CDI.
New wiring harness.
New stator.
New tires.
No title. Bill of Sale only.

1984* PK125 Electricstart - Pink and White
Motor disassembled but most everything else is intact
Decent shape. Daily driver type of wear.
Imported from England.
Current Florida title.

Mate, looks like two great wee scooters. Small frames are the best 8)

I would get the 50 with the ET motor, it's ready to go.

Why not try and buy the two of them?

Cheers

I'm with Jim, the ET3 motor scoot is cool and funky. I like the color better too

Well, small frames are cool, but, to restate my case, I'm a rather large fella. I think the phrase that's been used when describing what I would look like on a smallframe is "circus bear on a tricycle". I'm cool with that, but I wanna make sure I'm getting something worth the money Also, $1800 is well beyond my budget, or I'd consider getting one for me and one for the wife.

ET3s have good engines, as I understand it (I'd love to pick one up if I could find one). I'd go with the 50 Special/ET3 scoot.

Mate, i don't know what you mean about being LARGE.

Throughout the 80 some really fat bastards would pass me on the motorway rocking smallies.

IMO (et3, PK) they are the best handling, braking vespas ever.

Big brian was 17 stone and that is all he ever rode. And another friend who was huge "Big Dodd" was 7ft + and rode lammy skellys.

Do it mate 8) for $900 i don't think you could lose. Remember they are rare (compared to P series) this side of the pond.

Cheers

No one has addressed the title/no title issue. How difficult is it to register a vehicle in Georgia w/o a title?

I know that $1800 is out of your budget but for $900 each I'd find a way to get them both. Rock the one with the ET3 motor yourself and toss the wife on the PK.

Indeed. GA is ridiculously easy to get a tag for vehicles.

Big fella for me means 6'2" 350lbs (I looked up stone the other day. I thought it was 25 stone, but now that doesn't sound right. Maybe it was 15), but like I said, I'm fine with it as long as its a bike worth having. I don't think I'm going to look exactly "well matched" on any scooter, so I'm not terribly concerned. Really, the big thing on smallies is convincing my dad its worth taking home, because he's been told you have to drop the engine on a smallie any time you wanna work on it, which is true enough, but he seems to think this is some huge deal. Sounds like I may have to try to win him over on this one though.

Is it your money? I say you get what you want. He can complain as much as he pleases when it comes to helping with tight spaces, but he isn't the one to ride it and love it. That's YOUR end of the project

Well, the point of the thing is to have something for the two of us to work on. I'm really wanting a scoot, but that's only half of it. If its something he ends up hating to work on, then I've lost the reason I started this whole search in the first place.

Also, he has the trailer, and all the tools and the mechanical knowledge needed when it breaks.

I'm getting mixed signals. Eric told me to get that Sprint 100 in NC. Besides, this is the only thing I've got to go on right now, so I thought I'd toss is up here. If nothing else, someone else might see them and like them.

What do you expect? If you want a cheaper scoot to fuck around with and race the neighborhood kids around on their bikes, go for it. Worst case scenario you turn around and sell it and get another. These things pop up all the time. The question is how long are you willing to wait for the right one to come along. It's like true love; you 'll know it right away. Are you gonna open a profile on match.com and settle for a middle-aged divorce with three kids, or get out there and pound the pavement and get laid for real, yo?

Dude, if you are saying that you are 6'2" and 350 then you are WAY TOO BIG for a small frame. Try this, go to a couple vintage rallies and meet some folks and check out the bikes. Make contections with people local to you. Save your money. Something will pop. I love those european 50's. I saw them everywhere in Germany and one with an et3 motor would be great for a chick or a skinny dude. They are quite possibly the most tunable motors Vespa made, very rad but not for big dudes. You need a P or a Rally or a T5 but on your budget it will be a beater p. SAve your coins and be ready to pounce, the right deal will come along and for gods sake don't share your prospects with everyone that looks at this board because someone will snipe you.

Aye mate. 350 is a wee bit too much as mentioned above.

You should indeed hold off. I think a P series is your best bet.

I've been reluctant to buy any PK series scooter,
Mainly because I heard they rust out at the top of the rear shock.
This problem is echoed with the modern LX150.

The last week or so I've seen like 4 hot chicks on smallframes and realize that I am way too tall to ever consider one......on the other hand it's nice seeing hot chicks on scooters even if one did smoke me at a light last weekend

If she had enough time to smoke you at the light, you must have shot one pretty fast yourself.
