The time has come to pull the trigger on this V90 for my mom that has been for sale for a while in my hometown. I'm not too familiar with smallies so any help and advice on what to look for (the basics) when purchasing one. I know it's a 3 speed and about 3hp.

Here is the link to the Craigs' ad here:
http://sandiego.craigslist.org/csd/mcy/1281050508.html

I think the 2k price tag to me is a bit off...would offer him 1200-1500 tops. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks

Yeah, it's not bad. I've talking with the guy who has it and I'm going over there tomorrow after work. I just want to be prepared before I go and look at this thing.

It looks to be all origional. I hope my mom won't need those crash bars

That's a pretty original looking bike. I think you're about right on the price.

Does she ride now or has she in the past? I know what you mean by you hope she doesn't need the bars...my mother has shown interest in buying my ET and while I never worry about myself crashing the idea of my mother doing it is horrifying.

According to my mom she had a roomate in college that rode one around. She said that she had ridden it a few times around campus. She's almost certain it was much smaller than my Sprint so it had to be a smallie.

So's she's familiar with it, but will obviously need more practice riding it around on soft grass or something before she hits the pavement.

has a v-90
,, ipaid $1200 for mine, but needs all the blinkers, etc.other than runs fine, new ebuild body paint. it does vibrate alot as do most mine is a (1974),, the 1st year for electrical system (failure),, but kicks over after 2-3 times.
i think it is almost a 4hp, 3 speed,, does ok on hills but still slow, but does stretch out on the flats,, 40-45 (i`m 200lb),, but it`s a head urner for sure. does need more storage for sure. MUm will need to check the bike for loose
nuts, etc as it does vibe alot.,, went thru a road check and the cops just waved me thru and laughed,,still not a bad price if the engine is a rebuild/carb too, check the gas tank and look for an inline filter, ( mine has one and thank god for that)

the filter
,,was an add-on after the new tank,, just glad it has one,i used to work in SD onships, and maybe the gas is a bit more to standard there.,, but i`ve noticed on the east coast you can get some bad gas here and there,,
so i` feeling good about having one.. i doubt they did but it was the 70`s first big US gas shortage too.

Well..if your tank is "clean" then you would never need a filter. But hey, whatever works for ya!

I'm gonna see this thing after 6pm my time..I will post some pics

,, yup it is a cherry bike, same color as mine.,, they do ride smooth,, my seat needed some more padding for a 20+mi ride. so i put some memory foam i had under the seat.
,,as for the in line filter,, should i take it off,, or just remove the filter??
seems to be doin ok,, but i did wonder about the pre-mix issue,, know anyone else w/ a filter on the 90.,,
what kinda speed are ya getting out of her, i`m @ 40-45 w/out pushing much trouble,, vespa pipe?? mine has a polini,, sounds nice

awsome

and i was going to add that the amount of the bike is second to the purpose.

this bike will be taking your mom to amazing places in her life journey.

i'm not trying to get sentimental, but really, i mean it, this is the beggining of a mother and son scooter thing that no dollar will size up

well well worth the 16

good job jason
