how much should it cost to replace a BV500 Voltage Regulator ? The dealer charged $160 for the part and $234 for labor. This seems high. I tried to contact Piaggio, but their customer service is terrible and they do not respond to telephone calls or emails.

that is the problem, these bikes are expensive to up keep.... one thing i can tell you is that piaggo wants to support the dealerships and make it hard for the riders to get ahold of the parts with out the dealer involved.... i once was looking a parts and the only way to get them is through the dealer. my best guess if you are the mechinical type is to by the part from the dealer and install in yourself. best wishes on this thought.

assuming a 70~80/hr labor rate that's only about 3hrs to complete a job. the BV series is notorious for being a PITA as far as access goes. i can tell you that if replacement on that is anything like on a GTS it takes every bit of 3hrs to complete the diagnosis and repair. and 160 sounds about right on the price for the regulator.

your option always includes buying a shop manual and the proper tools and doing it yourself... although you'd need quite a bit more than 234.00 in tools...

Who do you expect to sell the parts? There is no such think as aftermarket parts like the auto industry has. You can't blame Piaggio for that, there just isn't high enough demand.

You want aftermarket parts, buy a car.
