Hello,

I have a Vespa LX 150 2006, a couple of months back I hit a pothole that sent me flying of my bike, I was ok and so was the bike, well at least not cosmetically. It got pretty scratched up and on the the top left corner of the front shield become slightly disattached from the back part. I brought it to the Vespa dealership and they wanted something like 1500 dollars to paint the scratches and to order pretty much an entire new body because they say that you cant really fix an LX body you have to order whole new parts. Now, to me this sounds a bit ridiculous and my insurance does not cover body work so 1500 was out of the question.
Can anyone here confirm that? I mean the damage isnt that bad at all and the bike runs as smoothly as the day I got it.
Do any of you know any place that does bodywork in the NYC area?
Has anyone had to go through a bodywork experience with the LX 150?

If you guys and gals want I could put up some pictures of the damage.

Thank You

I 'dropped' my LX 150 BleuBelle while pulling out of a parking spot. I was going approx 5 mph, and accellerating, since I was in a turn. Hit some pine needles, and BAM! Saw pavement before I could blink. My scoot actually pulled away from me and spun slowly on her right side for at least one full revolution before I jumped up and hit the kill switch.
Since the speed was so slow I was unhurt save for bruises from the handlebars.
However, the damage was:
Broken right side mirror (broke off at base of stem socket)
Scraped windscreen
Scraped the following on right side, Cowl trim, brake lever ball ground down, transmission cover and passenger footrest.
Big paint scrape on right rear 'haunch' about the size of a open hand and down to the undercoat, and on right side of front wheel fender also down to the undercoat. The scrape was circular, as this was the rotational point of the machine once it was down.

Cost me approx $415 including labor to replace the mirror, brake lever, transmission cover, cowling trim and footrest. Includes the cost of the safety check on the vehicle to make sure the frame was ok, as the right front cowling was askew.

Cost me an additional $400 for body work and paint repair. I was originally quote $525 for this. but my requirement was that the Vespa look 'original condition" aka New, since it was only 2 months old. Detailer did a wonderful job on the rear fender (the haunch of the LX), including an invisible paint matching. However he failed to do the same on the front fender, and only dabbed touch up paint there (and it looks awful) so I negotiated a $400 "split the difference" on his original quote.
All paid out of pocket, as my insurance deductible was $1000
Small scrape on the windscreen is still there, since it doesn't interfere with my vision and since it would cost me another $125 to replace the screen for a minor cosmetic issue.
As you can see from my profile pic, the right rear fender looks immaculate and has the same sparkle as the factory paint job.
