Seeing how I seem to be the only person with a old scoot(around here).. I get a lot of shite about how useless they are.

i carried $160 in groceries home on mine on saturday ($210+ before instant savings). that was a luggage sized backpack filled to the back snapping point, another canvas bag full hanging from my neck, and a paper grocery bag of bread dangling from my shifting wrist. wobbled home in agony. saigon would have been proud.

A couple years ago while living in southern Italy on business every day I used to see this grey old man on a grey old Vespa with a white and tan old hound perched on his floorboards as he went to and from his field. Then one day I saw a black haired young man on a shiny new black Vespa with a black young hound and I thought "They have GOT to be realated!" Unfortunately I was never able to capture a picture of it! Crying or Very sad emoticon

I also remember seeing a couple with a toddler sanwiched in between...THAT had to be Safe! Anyway, from my time there ANYTHING can be carried on a Vespa! I always thought the helmet hook was a grocery bag carrier...that is all I ever saw it used for!

Surely pictures of someone like the late Giorgio Bettinelli would convince them that a determined person on a Vespa can do ANYTHING!

It IS a grocery bag (or briefcase) carrier.

Helmets were practically unheard of in Italy (off the racetrack) until roughly the eighties.
