In checking a bit earlier it seemed that only the top 30 or so karma earners have the targets, which still leaves quite a large number of positive karma holders with no indicators. No big deal...but curious. By making the karma indicators visible, I'm anticipating a strong uptick in post ratings. I'm counting on that fact. The number of positive ratings necessary to earn a half star isn't really very high at all, numerically speaking, but the rating system has been underused since I introduced it. If necessary, I'll rescale, but I think we should see more people with targets under their avatar shortly. There are probably many here who wonder, as I do, if a target will ever grace their avatar. Not knowing if it will be on the next post or the next hundred is a real poser.

In this system, one can always improve their reputation just by being helpful and making an effort to be well-liked. Those that don't care or won't make the effort will at least be identifiable, and perhaps worse. It's up to each individual to better themselves. That drops me down to three targets (as of this writing) and brings more people up to the level of having at least half a target. Just to be evil, though, the negative scale is uniform, and each half step is easier to "earn". Nonlinear karma... now that's cool! And folks who know what logarithms are... that's REALLY cool!!

I don't know if I'd say this means the system is "working," but I've somehow gained a whole roundel during the course of the day.
Maybe I posted something funny or useful earlier. I don't recall. Still trying to figure out if I do better when I post more or less frequently, ha. |

Crap, I lost a whole half a target in less than an hour! Who did I piss off this time? Probably some ET4 owner who took offense at me questioning whether they're faster than LXs in "the same way that red scooters are faster" or whether ETs should be regarded as collectibles.
Guess I just need to

Karma
well, actually karma is something that one accumulates through present and past causes one makes, to how they will be in the future depends upon what causes one makes right now
I am confident of my changing my immutable karma as I go day by day, as I see the actions of my causes from the past come forth, and there is only one way to change immutable karma keep on practicing |

The definition of the word immutable is an object whose nature can not be changed. So immutable karma would be karma which is incapable of being changed. I'm not sure I understand what you are saying.

Interesting idea Jess! I was bumbling around on a small Pocket PC screen for a good while trying to figure out from whence that mysterious symbol came Thank goodness I'm back to a real computer and can more efficiently browse the threads

I'm not sure I understand what you are saying. mutable karma can be changed, but to really open up, it has been directed that immutable karma can be changed as well. And why not, we are equal human beings on this planet. BTW, I am a practicing Buddhist for 35 years. have a good positive karma day. If you follow my signature line at the bottom, that give's an idea |

It is really not that difficult to figure out who the person is that had the dual accounts and was patting himself on the back. Just go to the people who are now rated karma negative or low neutral, and see if you see anyone familiar down there who has a huge number of posts and was previously ranked very high because of his own props to himself.
It is impossible to have plunged into the negative that quickly from being positive without having fake good karma taken away overnight. I won't say who I think it is, but even Shaggy and Scooby could solve this one. Draw your own conclusions. |

Is there a way (other than scrolling every thread) to see which posts have received positive/negative karma? I can see who gave me a thumbs-up/down, but I'm curious as to which posts garnered the rating.
If a post is marked "neutral," that means it's received equal ups and downs, right? A whole new dimension to my narcissistic insecurities! |

soon Everyone will be a moderator, and then everyone can see who rated what post with how many thumbs up or down.
and who did the rating. i guess that's the good aspect of a TON of mods. but in the mean time Since many are so socially intimate with some of the mods, then they can tell each other the "current Karma gossip"... can I get a thumbs up?

Karma causes start with "thought" which leads to "words" which leads to equal or opposite reaction. So the causes you made in the past end up being actions, depending on what the "thought" cause was. Pretty Philosophical if one starts backwards from the infinate past. The law of cause and effect are as old as the universe itself. |
