When I was a new rider I was always looking for a group or partner. as time went on and I discovered more then the local biker bars and stops. my buddies or partners lost intrest in riding 200+ miles in a day. so I mostly ride alone or bring a passenger friend with me. so how you roll.?

I ride by myself 99% of the time. I ride to get away from everything and just want to go where ever I end up.

I mostly ride alone, however, I do enjoy riding with our club as well. In a group ride we'll often have groups of up to 14 scooters riding in formation. Other times I'll ride with my partner or a smaller group of friends. It's all good.

Back in the mid 70's, on weekends. I rode for several months with the BMW club in San Diego. After witnessing three collisions in three months where someone would run into the rear of the person in front of them, I decided that group riding was not for me. From then on, I either rode by myself or with no more than two other experienced riders that I trusted not to ram me. Now that I'm older and no longer ride motorcycles, I either ride with my wife (on her GTS) or by myself. In fact, I'm going to jump on the GTV in a couple of hours and take a nice, leisurely ride through the countryside. (by myself) Laughing emoticon Laughing emoticon

Huge rally rides are probably the least enjoyable for me though. A few peeps or just me are best.

By myself - I just like the freedom you feel as you ride along. I don't mind the occasional passenger if it's just to show people that two wheels is a great way of getting about. I find riding with loads of others just isn't relaxing - everyone wants to go at their own pace and trying to keep a string of riders together is just a pain.

I almost always ride alone, not because I'm anti-social (well, I don't think I'm anti-social ), but mostly because there just aren't a lot of other riders around here.

However, a new and active scooter club sprung up recently and I rode with them once before my ouchie. Nice people. As soon as I am back on the scoot, I'll ride with them again.

But on my long trips...we'll I've planned them with only me in mind...so I do those by myself, too.

Solo virtually 100% of the time. I am also a road biker and ride solo virtually all the time. On big rides with lots of bikes riding in close quarters (called the peloton in cycling), one person in the front going down can take down a lot of bikers. Miguel

Please pardon my inevitable interjection of humor into this serious subject.

answer: at work solo, evenings and weekends> two ( wife on GT , myself on GTS), some weekend groups (3 to 5 riders) and long distance usually solo.

My observations on recreational scootering would parallel skiing and fishing>>>whereas, if you wait for your friends to get organized to go with you then you will rarely go.... just go baby go.

Usually alone. Convinced the boyfriend to take the MSF course with me, but that's pretty much as far as he went as far as the scoot is concerned.

If I'm not already committed to something else, I usually try to ride with my local scooter club. However, most of them are based a good hour away, so occasionally weather plays a factor. I will ride in nasty weather, but not if I don't absolutely have to, and not for an hour to go ride in it more.

Only friend I've found who's willing to go on longer rides with me is a former roommate back in SoCal. Seeing as how that's kind of inconvenient, we haven't done any rides together yet.

Typically, I ride solo. I would say 99% of the time, and that 1% was the AmeriVespa event here in S.J. I've tried to go on VCLG 1st Sunday of the Month rides before, but I got called in to work one time, and another a buddy's Rally 200 broke down just as we were rolling out on the ride, so I stayed back. The group riding gods must be telling me something...

Incidentally, I did have one *hell* of a time on the Thursday AV ride.

Mostly solo commuting and now one solo road trip, but I've really enjoyed the couple of group rides I've been on and mean to join in on the local maxi-scoot club rides more often.  For me, it's a good way to learn about good nearby rides that other people have already found.

I live in a small town and own the only Vespa within 75 miles AFAIK. There are a few China scoots and a couple maxis around, but no clubs or groups that I know of.
So, I'm the lone rider here. The bulk of my riding is commuting a little over a mile each way to work, but occasionally I take a short ride out to the lake or a few miles out and back. I'm trying to work myself up to longer rides. I want to ride to San Antonio next year for Amerivespa. It's about 150 miles.

Just did a 100 mile ride through the country today, my longest single ride.

Pretty much solo. Nearest group is 50 miles of city driving away. Tryed to get scooter rides started here in Jupiter FL area for several months, got two people on one ride one time. I was going on little 75 - 100 mile junts daily for a while. I still put in at least 25 miles a day, most days. I put over 10,000 miles on in my first year.
