Just bought my first bike, a 400cc MP3, man this thing is great!

It deffinately rides much better than what I rode in my basic rider class... super stable, and fun to ride.

Rode it about 30-40miles to get it home from the dealer, and it was great... I expected to be uncomfortable at 55mph, but found myself wanting to go faster. Seems very easy to exceed the speed limit, even in town (though I haven't checked the speedo yet, it is slow)

Went to work after getting it home for a couple hours, didn't want to be there, wanted to be out ridding. Went for a ride after work with a guy from the local gear shop, couldn't keep with him on the corners since I'm new and not comfortable with those speeds/lean angles, but ended up putting almost 100mi on it in the first day... I'll likely need to put gas in it before the end of today, depending on how much riding I do... Likely another ride tonight to show it to my grandparents...

You'll get more comfortable leaning it pretty quickly - my first "wow" moment was slaloming cones with ease in my MSF Basic Rider course.

After nearly a year I've reached the point where, as of last week, I'm no longer a "scrape virgin". I was rounding a corner with more speed than I'm used to, so I needed to lean over farther to keep the turn. The center stand's right "foot" made brief pavement contact, but the scoot never batted an eye. It's not news to many here, but you really CAN lean it all the way over if you're running at speed!

Let me add my congrats and welcome too, especially to another Oregonian! You're already hooked, obvious by your remarks, and its only gonna get better!

Took me a short while to get used to the way the Loretta handles but not long, especially with all the great roads around here. I'm sure not saving much in the way of fuel because I seem to ride all the time just for the sake of riding... and its worth a gallon for an hour of fun!

Are you in any of the sccoter clubs yet? Maybe see you around!

Thanks all... Odometer read 91mi when I got to work this morning, had 10 when I bought it, and Trip Odometer was 80.6 since leaving the dealer.

Put gas in it this morning, $4.17 worth of premium at 1.448gals, did the math, got 55mpg, on a new engine, and I will admit I got on it a little bit

BravoTwoFour, I sent in my info to Join the Oregon Scooter Club, only one I knew of in the state that looked worth while anyways

Congrats on the new 400!  The riding bug sure sounds familiar.  Comfort with leaning will come with time and practice (though an MSF course will hasten it along if you haven't already taken one).

Welcome. Here we go again. Another addicted person with a smile on his face. These MP3 are really an addiction that should not be taken lightly! Be safe and try not to quit your job so you can ride.

We've had high 90's this week in Portland and triple digits forecast for this weekend... but then hot down there includes humidity like living in a wet sponge and hot up here is just dessicating. And here it doesn't last very long!

The heat makes for some interesting riding; the key is to keep moving, obviously. I like getting into the heavily forested areas where the shade cools the road down a bit, especially as elevation increases (Western slope of Mt Hood 45 minutes away). I suspect Will is going to find that as well.

Do you have trouble with your visor fogging in the humidity in hot, hot, hot Florida?

Welcome
Fellow Oregonian. I'm from the Williamette Valley too, or Coast Range, I guess. Congrats on a great bike. Let me know when you are ready for a ride.

Thanks all for the welcome, this is a great resource I can tell already from browsing before I bought.

Looking forward to the weekend, trying to get some folks to go for a ride, though I don't know what day, or where to exactly, but working on getting some locals together for some sort of ride..

There are so many great rides in the valley its hard to know where to start. Anything out to the Cascades works, especially in this heat, or to Mt Jefferson and Detroit Lake, even out to the coast range and to the coast to really cool off. Man are we lucky to have such great scenery, twisty hills and mountains and destinations aplenty! Don't predicate your riding on others coming along, especially if new to it - get out there and have at it!

And don't forget the biggest beer fest in North America happening right now in Portland! (but ride safe, ya know the rules...)

Bravo2fer (I know, I just made that up but I like it.
Humidity in FL? Nah.....who told you that nonsense, Sticky? (oops, his name alone gives we Floridians away). Okay, I'll get serious (why? don't know Yes we are very familar with 90's and up + hume-mid-dit-tittee...I find riding late day, say 6pm is the best fully dressed...you are right...MUST keep moving. I also leave my helmet in garage 10 mins to acclimate it to present temp/humidity and find that works with NO FOGGING UP. I get crazy looks from vehicles riding by... because of scoot's 2upfront and then me dressed for a winter blizzard in a combat zone. The guy I ride with (God help him) rides in shorts, t-shirt, socks, sneaks, and sunglasses...I repeatedly scorn him but.......well, you know. Got caught in the dark the other night wearing my dark smoke shield....OMG was it hard to see! I was fairly close to home at that point (abt 10 mins away)...but those 10 mins felt like an hour!
AGAIN......it's hot, hot, hot here in the "Sunshine State" !
