Ditto on that. I'm not sure how tall you are, but you might favor the bench seat anyways...gives you way more room. Just keep the saddle seat just in case.

Well, that explains the missing nut. I agree with you Eric, the saddle is way too close to be ride-able by anyone over 5 ft. I say this because I'm 5'6" and I am way too close to the handlebars and brake. Who'd they make the thing for--kids? Do you think it would be OK for me to ride with the saddle unsecured until I get the bench seat--probably late September? Or would that be dangerous?

you, sir, share my love of the awesome 50 special slopeback seat. I really think that was the coolest seat they ever put on a bike.

I dig that seat, too. But I need to go with the bench, so I can use the scoot to drop off my kid at school. I've been using my GT for the past 2 years, and now my kid expects to go on the scoot as long as the weather's nice. When I bought the Sears, she immediately said, where's my seat?

yeah, that looks nice.
Good seats are expensive, i'm sorry to say, but worth it. Remember to get the corresponding peg that it attaches down on. |

Cool, I like that style. So if I attached my saddle by the screw and that's not there, how does the bench seat's peg attach to the bike?

well, you remove that whole front saddle / door thing you've got going. There will be two small holes up at the front of the frame to mount the front hinge of the seat to.
On the back, you'll have 1 bolt at the very center rear of the bike, and the little peg just screws into that. It's one of the three bolts that holds the tank down in the frame as well. |

OK, now I get it. I was just afraid that the big pin went in the seat and needed to have a big hole in the tank to go in-but it's the opposite-nice. Any thoughts on using the saddle without being secured to the tank. I'm just wondering because if I change out the tanks and can't use the saddle, i'll have to wait at least a month or two till i can afford the bench seat. According to my wife, I blew my scooter wad till my birthday

It's no biggie, really. I can wait for the seat--it's not so much a money thing as a principle thing. And I can still take the kid on the GT everyday...thanks for looking, tho!

yeah..that's actually even uglier than the PK seat, which was no prize pig as it was.
This is what mine looked like. How do you like that helmet-hook overhang action? It's like the seat has a beergut. And yeah, remember that LML actually OWN ALL THE TOOLING TO MAKE THE GODDAMN PK, HAVE FOR YEARS, AND HAVEN'T FOR SOME INEXPLICABLE REASON. *angrily kicks wall* |

Meh, don't get that upset about it....bastards at LML would want to toss a 4t in a new one if they started making them again or some dumbshit thing like that.

Thanks for the offer, Dick in Grand Rapids--that is super nice of you! Can anyone tell me, will a Blue Badge 150 seat fit on my 125 smallframe? I mean a free seat is a free seat, but only if it fits...

That *IS* really nice of you, Dick ...but it won't fit.
Smallframe seats are shorter, use a different bolt pattern for the hinge, etc. The largeframe seat you're giving him just won't fit. you CAN put a smallframe seat on your largeframe, by using an adapter plate ( i've done this - put the smallframe ancilloti-style seat on a VBB before ) ...but not the other way around. At least, not without serious modification. BUT, there *IS* a person at the Detroit rally who'd love your original bluebadge bench seat, and will give you money, Dick. He's a good friend of mine. He bought a repop sprint seat and hated it, so he sold it. I have reason to understand the original sprint seats are far more comfortable. |
