Wife passed her road test yesterday! She now considers herself street legal! She did good!

Gotta admit her diligence to go out and practice helped her confidence and got her thru the road test.

Her comments on what helped:

Setting up a practice course (we painted / duplicated the outline @ an abandoned parking lot); self, wife and son's aquaintance utilized this in preparation for the DMV road test and continue to use to refine skills.

Understanding of the nuances of slow turning and weaving...look with head and eyes...not just eyes....she appreciated viewing the Ride Like a Pro DVD.

Modulating your "braking" in a turn...never a dead stop...keep off the front brake. Don't look down.

Speed...it's throtlle control...slow...in taking tight turns.

Practice...practice... practice and continued practice even after securing her MC license.

Congrats to your wife! It's a wonderful accomplishment and a great payoff of her hard work practicing. And, you're right, the practicing doesn't end with the license. These skills are perishable and we always need to practice..practice..practice!

Hooray for your spouse, TB! And thanks for posting her tips. I followed many of them myself in preparing for the DMV test-- "Ride Like a Pro (For the Ladies)" is a good skill builder, w much useful info for modern scooter riders, even though it's focused on MC riding. And looking with both head and eyes is a really helpful tip!

What's she riding?

Are all the pets celebrating too 8)?

Thanks...she's riding her Honda Metro. This is classified as a MC due to the Horse Power rating.

Head and eyes turn was what she found most useful...reminded her that sometimes we think we're turning our heads enough but you really need to give it a good turn...especailly on U-turns.

Most important is wife needs to be happy...if she's not happy...nobody is happy! So cats are happy!

Hey sorry dude...did you tell her my wife passed?...this can snowball you know!

But I'm proud of her for taking it seriuosly to practice and getting out there to pass the road test.

Although her scoot is a Honda Metro (nothing bigger right now...) it's classified as an MC...it's still a challenge to master and pass the...in addition she still wants to practice!

Again, nothing bigger than her Metro right now...my son (upon hearing she passed) asked what Harley she was picking up....what?????

Sounds like one of those deals where she gets the Harley and son ends up riding....

this could be good. I would go for the harley and if she doesn't like it - you start riding it or if she likes it - you will need one too, only to keep up of course Laughing emoticon

win win

Good thought process...but this could definitely get outta hand

You can see she's really got a lot more confident (I began to notice this several weeks ago) and venturing further out of her comfort zone...gotta say again...very proud of her determination! Now that she's got her license...look out!

TB, Have her rent first. most women tend to get a sporty then want a lager bike IMO the touring bikes are easy to ride compared to the sportster. also in HI the Harley will feel like sitting on a boiler. but Harley has my vote.

Here's my take on this...if there were a 125cc Honda Metro that would be it...hence at the most a higher cc scoot. BTW, she love's her Metro...she says she's cute...even has a name "Coco" (after one of our cats)! Then again...you never know!
