I just passed 600 miles this morning on my 400. This weekend I want to go on a mountainous trip which will be somewhere around 200 miles max, and I won't have a chance to get my tune-up before that if I do decide to take the scooter.

So I guess my question is... How important is it to get the tune-up right at 600 miles? Would it be problematic if I was to take in on another couple hundred? I understand 600 miles is really more of just a guideline because all conditions are different... but is 200 additional miles a bit excessive to wait before getting the tune-up?

Don't worry about it. Take your trip and do the maintenance next week.

the first service is the MOST important. it is the intial shakedown of the scoot, the dealer has a whole list of things to check and tighten adjust and what not. The oil change is probably the most important of the service as it gets rid of anything like minor metal particles from the factory that COULD be inside the engine. Get it in for service.

The first service is important, but quite frankly can be done +/- 200 miles either side of the 625 mile mark. If it suits you better, leave it until after the trip - 200 miles is nothing for one of these machines.
