This is my little family, wife-Ahlima, oldest daughter-Ahmee, youngest daughter- Ahlimee and son- Jasper with me Pete (Aka- Cuttlefish) all sporting our "Vespas Rule" t-shirt (which I produce) with our 08 PX 200.
My wife is from a small hilltribe in the mountains of Nthern Thailand. The t-shirts I do with just plain Vespa's Rule for general Vespa fans and some with "I love the smell of 2 stroke in the morning" for the shifty riders. The family

Who is a dirty girl? I AM! Ol'Red rebuild (engine done!) You are right, jimmy - San Diego is a phenomenal place to live. I take full advantage of that all the time. Year round riding, always something to do, somewhere to go and some still plenty of places to escape it all. In fact - I'm saying goodbye to the keyboard right now - I'm going shiftin'. Gitta |

A quick segue: Funny thing about Harley riders -- they're really uptight about acknowledging even vintage scooterists on the road. The (super) sports bikes guys are happy to give the rider's salute, as are the enduro and dirt bike riders, plus the BMW and touring bike riders, but not so for almost all of the Harley folks. They're too busy being cool, I guess. It's funny (and to grossly generalize) because either they think of themselves as borderline criminal bad asses -- or at last very highly anti-establishment -- or they're slightly past middle aged upper middle class suburbanites with an identity/mid-life crisis who suddenly decide they need the freedom of a motorcycle now that their kids are grown and want the comfort of a low-rider and can afford the newest American iron. Both treat most scooterists (even vintage scooterists, though in fairness it may be hard to tell at first glance) with contempt. It's really like a pissing match about displacement, but I just don't get it... The young guys with more guts than sense on the Rice Rockets you'd think would be the ones who wouldn't give the time of the day, but actually they're often the nicest. <shrug> In fairness, I did have a really nice chat last year with a Harley rider as we were both waiting to take the next graduated level of motorcyle license with a monitored road test, but I think it was probably just nerves. We did have a good chortle about 1300 vs. 150cc engines, though. |
