Here, I hope next Summer's as good as this one was.

I presume I was influenced by all those folks in sunnier climes talking about their great weather all the time, but after having sweated a couple of days in the last month or two I bought a mesh jacket the other day in a moment of impulse buying madness. The weather, meanwhile, has returned to cool, drab smir/proper rain. I suppose it might be better under the waterproofs than my usual number while the temperature remains in the high teens.

I was just in a shop, the price was right (I've never seen one so cheap), my size was there - as long as I stay the same shape it should last pretty much forever.

Anyway, it looks alright and came in at just under 50 notes at J&S if anyone in the UK shares my optimism and is thinking about one. Maybe that isn't cheap, but I thought it was rather. Think the make was "Buffalo", in case that means anything to anyone.

Not had a chance to try it yet but if anyone's bothered I can give my impressions once I have. Might be about 10 months, right enough...

Oh well. Rain for the rest of the year then! Razz emoticon

Changing the subject slightly, I was in a dealers on Tuesday, and they supply scoots and gear to some of the London Borough's traffic wardens. They were doing very well at the moment because the wardens have demanded that the councils purchase them extra gear for the summer (as they were too hot!). The council's well at least 2, have agreed. So if you want to be a traffic warden I can recommend it. You get a free CBT and you get 2 sets of free gear that you keep. Then you can leave and go get a proper job. Laughing emoticon

(sorry for hijacking your thread. carry on)

i've seen the vespa-wardens on their silver ET4s. if i didn't already have a job i'd do it for the leather trews alone.

Hmmm... I wonder if that's a job I could bring myself to do... Ah - who'm I kidding? I could REALLY enjoy that!

Don't despair! Sunny skies are just around the corner (except yours will be full of midges Razz emoticon ). They'd better be, because we're off on hol's in the UK from tomorrow.

I get quite a lot of use out of my mesh jkt. As long as it's not certain to rain, I use it for a few months over the summer because my waterproof winter gear gets pretty hot commuting in town once the temps start heading into the 20s. (I keep a w'proof overjacket thingy under the seat for when it rains a bit).

My mesh jacket is on its fourth summer, or is it its fifth? Gloves on five too. Winter jackets wear out after a year or two, gloves in a year...

Last year I froze in my mesh jacket (even with the liner in and a fleece underneath) all round a soggy France, Germany and Austria. Then we got to Italy and I was laughing as everyone else sweated!

I also caved and bought one this year on the last day of the "heatwave".

It is stupid, and has a label that says "all weather action". I must have been suffering heat stroke when I bought it.

I'm also off camping and need to make a ritual sacrifice to the gods to avoid more rain.

I want some All Weather Action!

The thing I was craving in the brief heatwave was summer boots. I had a pair and got rid because I'd worn them once in two years. Chump.
