Not sure if this is the right place to post this or if I should PM it or who to PM....

Since the new karma badge things have been "installed" clicking a link opens in the same page... rather than opening a new window (or tab in FF) like it used to.

I know I'm being a nit picker but.... it's rather annoying when I accidentally close the page rather than hitting the back button.

It's not related to the new karma system, but there is some apparent randomness in whether a link opens in a new window or not. It's not truly random, though, it just seems like it.

Links that are pasted in, without [URL] tags, will have one behavior. Links that are created automatically by topic number will have another. I think there's a third variation, but I can't remember what it is at the moment.

It's something I've been meaning to sort out, but haven't gotten to yet. Unfortunately, I'm more likely to make links open in the same page than I am in a new page. This is primarily because the same rules that drive the forum also drive navigation from article to article in the wiki, and opening a new window for every pressed link in the wiki would quickly get annoying.

The compromise would be to try to distinguish between on-site links and off-site links, but I think that might just appear even more random.

ahhh ok.

I guess it's a little more complex than throwing in a simple line of javascript like many do on "regular" websites.

HAHA

That's my fav pic of myself. We actually posed for that pic to make it look like the dishes were coming out of our heads..... I know... I'm weird. I'm a broadcast radio engineer, specializing in audio processing for AM, FM, and online streaming radio stations. This picture was taken at the SBE (Society of Broadcast Engineers) summer picnic in 2007- there's another scooterist in that group but I don't think he posts here.

The picture was take at the WMAL (ABC NEWS) transmitter/ tower site, just outside of Washington D.C.

Here's the original photo:

It looks like a large, jaunty, alien hibiscus flower tucked behind your ear. Cute!
