Well I want to thank everyone for their help in my scooter decision process, but I ended up going with a kymco people s 250. It was neck and neck among that, the piaggio bv250, and a scarabeo 200, and i ended up going with the absolute ugliest of the three.

I just don't have a great deal of parts support where I am for an italian scooter, and I ended up getting the people s 250 for 4000 otd with 0 miles.

I really wanted an italian scooter, but it just didn't make sense for me. I hope I like the taiwanese version...

Wouldn't traitorous behaviour have more to do with not buying a HOG assembled in the US rather than choosing a Taiwanese scoot over an Italian scoot? Razz emoticon

At the end of the day...it's your decision. I'm quite sure you gave it a lot of thought and exercised due diligence to arrive at your decision.

With that being said...have no regrets and enjoy your scoot!

Enjoy the Kymco! My S 200 is very progressive, riding with and parking next to 2-wheeled vehicles of all colors and nationalities.

I like Italian, Taiwan, and Japanese scooters. I ride and like the brand I have when I have it,
and feel no allegiance to it as if it were a state, group, or family member.
It is, after all, only a machine...?

KYMCO makes a great scoot and you should not feel bad.

It is my belief that it is better to go with a cheaper first scooter. You have a lot to learn and many adventures ahead of you!

I started off with a People 150 and sometimes I still miss that agile little scooter. Enjoy!

I was looking at a new Kymco before I bought my used ET. I've heard a lot of good things about them. Looks aren't everything. There is a lot to be said for reliability and and support.

I did the same process. I shopped the Vespa/Piaggio/BMW/Ducati dealer and test rode a Fly and BV250. I had experience on a P200E in the 80's and I liked the feel of the BV's large wheels for my suburban commuting needs. I shopped the Aprilia dealer but he had NO scoots on the floor at all and eventually he got in SportCity (I really liked this one but it was a new model so no reliability history and all of the 'beo fuel line issues so I didn't buy)

I bought a Kymco People 250 used off craigslist and I have put nearly 8,000 km since I got it. The local Kymco mechanic/dealer had nothing but praise for them and said the only time he sees them is for normal wear and tear items and tune-ups... unlike some of the others in front of his shop all needing something sent across the pond.

Ride on and enjoy.

Uh, oh.

How 'bout concurrently? Like, you know, southwest desert sects, where a guy has Vespas & Hondas under the same roof...so to speak..

I can relate

My Elite had the pop-up headlight, liquid cooled, digital dashboard...real good stuff. Sparkly gold....darn, I'd love to find another.

That Helix had my attention back in the day....I ended up with the Elite and feel the same way about it you do about the Helix, which created it's own category of scooter.

Good luck on your quest!
