Hi I dont know much about Vespas but I want to learn. This bike is for sale for $500, owner bought it five months ago and knows nothing about it, except it doesnt run. Do you know anything about this bike? What resources can I use to learn more about Vespas. I have a Vespa: Style in Motion book about the history of Vespa and a repair manual for Vespas models from the seventies. Thanks any thing helps.

there's something really wonky about the dimensions on that bike.
The front fender looks off in proportion to the front wheel, which looks really tiny in comparison. I mean, what can be said that you don't ( hopefully ) know... it's asian. Likely vietnamese, because it has a chrome gas cap on it... and indian bikes don't tend to have those. Other oddities : bajaj speedo, some ulma-style embellishers on the cowls and the winged embellisher around the piaggio logo, the taillight is missing the bridge piece and appears to have lost some of it's chrome... one of those outer lip gas tank gaskets, etc. I don't know... it could be a bike that runs fine, or it could be an absolute hornet's nest and cost you thousands of dollars more than you expected. I would just save my money. |

you see now, i am just crazy enough that i would buy it just to sport it at rallys for the f--k of it.
i have the two bikes i want, my p and et3 so for 500 no prob call me the fool, but i like it i would take that guy 3 to 4 and tell him it's junk and your doing him a favor at that price. something about that bike says " i'm not a bad bike, please take me for your own" kinda like a ugly mutt with a missing leg in a dog pound

What's with the date stamp on the photos? Is this bike from the future? I would buy it but only if your going to put $1000 in it and never sell it to anyone else.

This site needs a "who are you" section so we can tell these nam builders and spot the question "what can I do to this scooter to make it look more italian and less of a bodge so I can sell it easier to some sucker"

just a quick word... most of the stuff coming out of india isn't too terrible. from what i've seen, that is, the bikes "restored" there tend to have the thick paint and bondo, but generally don't have the frankenstein frames, silly electrics, hammered motors and goofy forks. for the most part they run baja parts and p or p variant motors with standard parts.
i'd consider an indo example as something that could be rebuilt. the nammers are just good for boat anchors, window dressings and door stops. best, -greasy |
