Hi mate, Welcome to MV. Powder coat removal can be difficult though can be done.

Depending on how well it's be applied, you can start in a small area and chip (Carefully) away. Then use various grades of emery paper.

I recently removed powder coat from my ARB bar it took be 4 hours.

The best advise would be to have it shot blasted using a good hard abrasive.

Again it's difficult but can be done. You need to question why it was powder coated in the first place?

There maybe hidden nasties

Post some pictures if you can mate.

Cheers

yeah..that sucks..

options are the same as most folks - either acid-dip it or media blast.

The media blast is going to cost more than if it was just a painted bike, as the guy doing the blasting is going to have to spend more time to remove it. Most bead blast shops charge by the hour.

Congratulations! You've discovered a downside to powdercoating a scooter!

( i think i'm going to start making that the end of every one of my posts, like it's some sort of computerized form response. )
