Hi, again....

Really like this forum, only just got my Vespa 125 s and love it!
Had a 50 Typhoon for 13 years, and just done the change!

Anyhow back to the question.....

I am after some bar ends, need light ones just to extend the length of the bars...for my big hands.! any idea where i can get them from?
All the ones i look at seem real heavy!

thanks... Laughing emoticon

Ta, what should the fitting on the end be like?

Some look like they go into the bars!

also are the all more or less the same diameter?

sorry for all the stupid questions but i dont have a clue!

Try and check these site out...Jettin might be the best to provide what you need with minimal weight.

We have the Jettin heavy bar-ends on all three of our scooters. The anodized models are light weight and the least expensive. We have their heavy chrome models because they add some resistance to potential wobbling of the front end when using a topcase. I really like this product because of the slots that are pre-cut in the bar-end that allow you to put a hook for strapping down the scooter if you have to tow it anywhere on a trailer.
Here's a page from the Jettin site that shows the bar-ends and how they are used for tying down your scooter.

Dunc, seeing as you've got to take your existing ones off, why not do that now, and then you can measure them to see what the new size needs to be? Either that, or why not just call up your dealer and see what stock Piaggio options there are for you?

(Sorry if you already know this, but just in case...) if you're looking for bar ends and you keep seeing mentions of how they're "extra heavy" or some such, this is because you often get heavy bar ends in conjunction with fitting a topbox (so the weight on the bar ends goes some way to balancing the extra weight of the topbox).

His S doesn't have existing bar ends (at least the US models don't).

You will need to use an Xacto knife to cut a roughly 5/8" diameter hole in the end of each of the rubber grips. You will see that there is a mild steel plug welded into the ends of the bars. You'll have to drill a hole exactly in the center of the plug, keeping the hole parallel to the axis of the bar, and then tap threads into the hole with a 6mm tap. Not too difficult.

There are many styles of lightweight billet aluminum bar ends available on eBay. Usually, the bolt-on ones have 6mm bolts. The "universal" styles have a rubber expansion plug designed for hollow bar ends, but these invariably have a 6mm bolt through the center as well, so you can use this style if you discard the expansion plug. You will need to use washers as spacers to keep the bar ends from compressing the ends of the rubber grips when the bolts are tightened, with enough washers on the throttle grip to allow the throttle to turn freely.

Unless you have a front-end stability problem like a wobble, you shouldn't need (and probably don't want) heavy bar ends on an S.

Oooops Sorry, I didn't realise Ss didn't have bar ends. How odd. Must remember to have a good look at one next time.
