Heyo, I've posted replies to a few topics, but this is my first topic post. My name is Mim and I love my GT200.
I started riding scooters when I was 17 - my Mum gave me my first one, an old 50cc Honda postie bike. My second one was a Honda Lead (never was sure if it was lead as in - the leader of the pack or lead as in dead-weight...). Anyhoo I had that scooter for about 6 years and countless kilometers.
I had always hankered after a real scooter (AKA a Vespa) but I felt I couldn't get one after I met my husbands sister - she had been in a terrible motorbike accident when she was 16 - head injuries - the works. In fact I retired the Lead due to that.
When I hit 35 the passion for scooting returned and I had the cash to splurge so I bought my second hand ET4-150 (daring plum!). I loved my baby to bits - it was heaven sent. The only thing I didn't like was when my husband secretly (his family still don't know) bought a SYM HD200 - the bugger was faster than me! How dare he! So I bit the bullet and bought my GT200 in March 08. Now I know what love really is!
I've had the grand total of two accidents over the years - the first one was caused by rain in combination with tram tracks - do'h! The second one I was rear-ended by a dickhead!
I love how when I'm riding down the road fellow Vespa riders nod their heads at me, in fact I think it's fair to say that I've met some really cool people from riding. It's a great stress buster, I love singing in my helmet - the best fun ever.
So there you go, that's me. I'm coming up to the dreaded 4-oh and I'm thinking it might be a good time to go for a nice long road trip, maybe up to Cairns.
Thanks for having this forum, I really enjoy it!
Cheers,
Mim
