I did! Don't. It messed something up. Anyone know what to check besides the fuses. Thanks!

Shoot me!

What does the scooter NOT do now that you did this? Fuses are the first thing that come to mind.

Don't forget that there are fuses behind the side trim panel.

Dude, you have the exact same bikes and years that I do. Weird.

Starting a bike with a battery tender attached shouldn't do any harm to the bike. I'm wondering why the bike was on a tender in the first place - routine or a failing battery?

+1
I routinely keep my two scoots on tenders as I'm not an everyday rider.
On occasion I've started and ran their motors while still connected to a Battery Tender Jr. -Never been any kind of problem...

I wonder what kind of problems with what kind of battery tenders on what kind of scooters the OP is talking about here?

Well, the headlight is not coming on, the trunk switch isn't working. The bike won't start, and there's some clicking sound coming from under the seat!

The battery was the original I think. That's what the first owner told me when I bought it last year. It's been getting harder to crank, so I've been using a tender and all was well. It's a yousa or something like that. We had a little colder than normal snap here, so in the mornings it's been hard to start. I forgot the tender was connected and got in a hurry. I have a new battery now, and thought it was just the old one, but it wouldn't start with the new one. It could just need more charging, I'll check when I get off work.

Yep, we have the same models and years. The ET4 is really my wife's bike.
Thanks for all the responses. I'll check and replace fuses this evening and hope for the best!

Here are the two places the fuses exist. Otherwise, the battery probably just needs to be replaced.

Sounds to me like you just need a new battery.

It's certainly not a BV500, but I routinely start my LX150 with the battery tender connected. Never a problem, and I don't see why it would be.

If the battery was shot and you tried to start it that the only thing that can supply current is the tender. Hopefully it has some kind of overload protection, otherwise you could damage it. The tender is a battery maintainer not a jump starter

The clicking is the clincher. Your battery is shot. Get a new one, and make sure it is fully charged before first use.

OK, problem solved!

I think I had a couple of issues. One, there was a blown fuse. I checked all the BV500 fuses, thanks to Shane's pics, and they were good. However, there was an in line fuse in the battery tender cable I had hooked to the battery! So I just took the thing off, put the old battery back on, and it fired right up. I had added distilled water to the old one and charged it up. The water level was extremely low. I had checked it last year and it was good.

I think the new battery, Yusa YB10L-B, was not charged up enough, or just bad. I've hooked it to the charger and no green light yet, after about 2 hours. I could have drained it I guess. If that was the original battery, I guess 3 years is pretty good!

Thanks for all the help. Does anyone know how to put Solved in the subject line?

Just go back to the original post and hit edit at the top right of the box. Then, you can edit the subject line or post.

Glad to hear you got it working. I suspected that it was just the battery.

Just for general info, I contacted the manufacturer of my Battery Tender Jr and was told that there is no problem with starting a scooter while the charger is still connected.

Well, my battery could have been so low that it caused the problem.

I always am concerned about blown fuses. I would certainly check around for a wire that may have worn through the insulation or a loose connection. On the other hand sometimes a fuse will just blow and once replaced you never have a problem with it again. Maybe you will be lucky and the problem is completely solved.
