Hello everone. New s 150 owner. After a trip my wife and I took to Greece a few months ago in which we scooted across the isalnds, she fnally let me get a scooter. The scooter had to be small enough to fit in my 67 VW bus and for my wife to drive, so 150 was the largest I wanted to go. This lets me man handel it into a very small place. I used to have a Ducati 748, and the Vespa seems kind of slow, obviously. Since I have lots of freeway riding where I live, what are some "safe" mods to increase top end speed. It is also hilly here in NH, so I need to maintain speed on the ups. On another note, today I was riding, and while in a tuck, I hit an indicated 70 mph for a few miles. Is it harmfull to run WOT for awhile. Everyone drives like a bat outta hell around here, so I feel I need to keep a decent pace.

They can run all day, 24/7 if necessary (but with fuel stops, natch) at WOT. Your butt will complain, the scoot won't.

Don't forget the break in period! You don't want to run WOT for long until you've done 600 miles/1000 KM. That VW is a beauty! We had a very similar one when I was a kid, except it had the small windows around the top as well.

There's some suggestion that a fast run from the get-go (with an early oil change) results in a faster scooter
https://modernvespa.com/forum/wiki-break-in If you are doing alot of riding at WOT check your oil levels frequently. Have fun! Regards Harvey |

Thanks for the link on break in. I have 310 miles right now in 4 days. Been riding a lot. Unfortunely, I think I fall between the 2 methods. I'll at least change the oil. What are the advantages and disadvantages of changing the pinion gear, exhaust, carb., and so forth, after break in. I want a reliable scooter, just a little more power.
I have to say, the bus makes the scooter all the better. Today I took the bus to my mechanic, 85 miles away, and drove myself home. I feel completly self reliant! |

Variator Kit + 190 cc kit...... You'll have to expect increased maintenance with any of the mods (especially the variator rollers). As far as I've read, nobody has been successful replacing the carb with another model; but you can change out the jets- check here http://www.scooterwest.com/item_detail/LX-150-38-Idle-Jet/2084/ Good luck!
