My shiny new first post, to go with my shiny (almost) new LX50. New to scootering, so I wondered if there are any Kent based scooterists who might be able to suggest some good rides (on a 50- no big hills please! and no big "A" roads if possible (so not the A2!!!)) for a sunny weekend.

Did a "back route" from Rochester to Maidstone the other day which was great, and rode from Tunbridge Wells when I bought the scoot a couple of weeks ago. Don't mind mileage (I'm a decent mountain biker so I can endure long days in the saddle...).

Thanks!

hi, welcome to MV. there are some fantastic routes in the kent area and we've got two members - jimc and williamvillage - who i'm sure will be happy to chime in and tell you exactly where they are. i've ridden in that area a few times, but was riding in a group and so busy enjoying the ride and the scenery that i didn't bother to note down the routes

I'm from Maidstone originally, and often ride around some of the lanes round there when I head back to see the folks.

A nice one is if you go up the hill past Boxley (I forget the name - it is steep, but not too long!), through Bredhurst, then take a right (before you go under the motorway)... before you know it, you're going through loads of lovely little country lanes that meander through the downs.

Actually, most of the area between the M2 and M20 is beautiful for randomly riding around.

Welcome to MV.

The best bet is to take a map (for getting home) and just go and get lost. There are some superb little lanes all around there.

Warning - you'll soon be hankering after a 125... Razz emoticon

thanks for the welcome and the tips... I went through Boxley the other day- does look ripe for exploring around there- very picturesque! JimC I think you might be right there... I think given the space (and the cash) we will probably end up with a collection! Laughing emoticon

williamvillage is definitely the person to talk to!

I live in Bromley and regularly potter around the back roads. There are some nice little lanes around Westerham, some of which are part of the Pilgrims' Way. Another place I've been to a couple of times by back roads is Headcorn airfield.

Hm, is it time for another Kent rideout?

And welcome
