Does anyone have any idea when the VCOA website will be revised? I paid my dues months ago, and have seen nor heard nuttin' as they say.
The current website provides no contact links for me to follow up on this.
Getting grumpy here...

Yep, I have had the same experience. Registered about six weeks ago and have heard/received nothing. I am inclined to cut some slack since I am sure there is some Amerivespa hangover, but I am a little concerned I threw away my money.

Don't worry they won't screw you. It's not a full time job, everything does tend to get delayed but you will eventually get your stuff and will love the magazine. I know this isn't the answer you want but i hope it allays your fears. Labor of love so to speak since i doubt any money is actually made from it.

Ugh! I registered LAST year around July. After three emails, the last being sent to all the executive committee demanding my money back, I finally got a response. Apparently they were in staff transition, blah, blah, blah, but that I should be receiving a membership packet. Seven weeks later I received a sticker and a magazine.
The last magazine was awesome under it's new format! I just hope I receive the rest of them. I wonder if they are going to fufill the terms of membership (12 mos, 4 mags) or was I shortchanged 10 months? They obviously need help with day to day stuff. I sympathize since this is not their full time job. But if they're going to have a nation-wide organization that charges membership fees, they need to be more responsible regardless of staffing situations. As my boss says, "I don't care what storms you encounter at sea, just get the ship to shore." I have mixed emotions because I'm an American scooter enthusiast and want to show support. But I won't be joining again this year if I get the shaft over last year. |

VCOA hello darkness my old friend
I can understand that it's not people's full time job. I am with the SCA, society of creative anachronism, which also is an international organization composed of not full time people. We seem to have our shit together with respect to issues of membership. A reasonable delay is 30 days. Maybe even 4-6 weeks, so long as that's what the website says.
But it's been over two months. Not cricket. After that I start to wonder if my membership is worth it. It's not rocket science to create a database and enter folk's info into it. Ditto for generating a mailing list. After all, I don't think the moderators of this site are working on it full time either. When I read other folks telling me that it took them nearly a year to respond in any meaningful manner, then really get worried. Too late for me to contact paypal to lodge a complaint, since there is no contact info on the site... |

Easy folks, I agree that things have been unsat, but they are working on a much more responsive arrangement coming soon. And membership ... eventually ... brings the requisite number of issues of the beautifully written, photoed and printed "American Scooterist" magazine, even if it takes more than a year to deliver. So ya might think of that as a bonus!

I've been putting off joining for the same reasons others have posted. When I first thought about it, there was a page for merchandise, but you couldn't order anything. I would like to have maybe some stickers or patches. Now there is just a "temporary" page where you can join up. I think I'll wait a little longer and see what happens.
Like others have said, I understand the folks are busy with other things in their lives, but couldn't they delegate some of the work? I don't know how big the membership is, but I would think there would be some willing volunteers to help out. Just my 2ยข. |

They were really busy with AmeriVespa(someone had to work to put on that amazing rally) and the edition of American Scooterist that will be out soon. BTW, I have a copy and it's a good one! Yes, rather late...but great! Patience. Just think of it as an organization that runs on scooter time. Things may take a little longer than planned but it's worth the wait when things gets started.
