Objectives:

1. Pick up 20 lb. bag of cat food and transport home - successful
2. Use recently acquired ROK strap to secure 20 lb. bag to scoot and transport home...successful
3. Explain to wife how this experience should convince her to try and ride two up (this didn't go over too well when I implied that the bag of cat food was a facsimile of her on the scoot) - Work in Progress... Headache emoticon

Anyway, below are a few pics on the ROK strap...works well. Strap are a composite of webbing and bungie. Each strap come in two segments so you can loop around fixed point on scoot or loop them together to configure a 54" long belt...see link for applications...maybe something to use if you're planning a summer trek.

BTW...on the road folks were trying to figure out what I was transporting... snickering and finger pointing...I don't get it...it's just cat food!

That is too funny. Just last night I saw a guy with a bag of cat food slung across the tank of his old school cruiser. I think he was sporting an Afro under his 3/4 Bell helmet.

How did the conversation go after the cat food discussion...?

late edit; diet cat food to boot? oh man.. did you sleep on the couch?

Cat food
Iams, huh? that is one well fed and pricey kitty. Weight and hairball control? Okay, it's a well-fed plump and fuzzball of a kitty.
Well if the misses won't ride, how about the cat?

See! there's a lot of us out there...what a wonderful man! So what did you do...point and laugh? Laughing emoticon

There wasn't much of a conversation...just that look of digust...you know what I mean? The more I tried to work my way out of it...the worst it got...!

Couch?...ask the cats...they talk amongst themselves..."Daddy sleeps there a lot...doesn't he? What a wuss!"

Iams...yes. That's the one they all demand...we have six cats! It's got to be Iams...once we ran out...and I ran...literally ran down to the convenience store and bought a small bag of Meow Mix...the five male cats were not happy, but O.K...then there's Coco (Alpha female)...all I got was this stare, "You got to be kidding...right?"....out came the can of Tuna and all hell broke loose amongst the other five male cats. The cats banished me to...you know where...the couch! Of course wife was really understanding, "Serves you right!"....can't win and gotta love 'em.

O.K. watch for next post on Cat Tales...this is on getting cats to ride, giving a cat a pill and getting little kitty into pet carrier to go to the vet. and getting new riding gear...it'll will make sense...

Now you know why the 20lb bag...don't want to run out again!

I carry two 21 lb bags of Charcoal on the MP3 all the time. I don't even need to strap them down if I get the 2 pack. I just lay them across the seat and lean back and it pins them between me and the Top Case
Makes a great back rest too.

Well, don't forget that riding leathers make excellent protection against bandsaw claws. Razz emoticon

P.S. I am owned by three of the little buggers. And they're into the really expensive cat litter....

moved out of my way.

Ohhhhh...the infamous "back treatment"...I've had that too...from cats and wife!

When in comes to animals / pets (let's not forget babies) folks will generally give us tremendous leeway vs. just myself (Who...?)

O.kkkkkk....bandsaw claws...is that the same as chainsaw claws?...I thought I was the only one with that problem...

Litter...the ones we get weigh 35 lbs a container and sometimes pick up two at a time...who knows maybe I'll get adventure some figure out a way to transport while maintaining a lower center of gravity (can't get those too high)....

HAHAHAHA.

Tell her being called cat food isn't that bad. My husband referred to me as a GIGANTIC BAG OF WATER on the back of his scooter. MEN......
He tried to explain what he meant...telling me how he used to transport large bags of water (10 gallon water bed tubes approx 80 lbs per tube) on his Elite 80 when he lived in the woods.... The argument ended with me getting a BV250. Laughing emoticon

As for transporting cat food and litter.... I usually get a 10lb bag of food and stick it in my step thru - usually on top of a 12 pack of diet coke, and the cat litter goes in my milk crate with a bungee holding it to the crate to keep it from sliding around.

Don't know what it is, first we say something and then spend more time trying to dig ourselves out of the mess we initially started.... Headache emoticon

Thanks for sharing your means of transporting stuff...maybe there has been prior string on transporting techniques...or maybe we can restart one...

My wife and I have been married for nearly 20 years and sometimes you just gotta shut your mouth and go to the store... without saying "Yes Dear!"

The reaction to a case of toilet paper is classic.

This is the way I carry 20-lb. bags of dog food on my LX as well. I use one 18" bungee across the bag to the grab rails, but -- as Wayne B says -- it is pretty well pinned between the rider and the rack or top case.

You could also use the ROK and not have them criss cross...the key is to hook the ends up the the grab bar and rack. Here's another way a cyclist used the ROK. I'm more inclined to use the ROK since it doesn't have the hooks like a bungee that could possibly scratch surface and is somewhat more flexible on hook up. Regardless you could even use manila rope and lash 'em on! I also understand the backrest..yeah it was comfortable.
