Yesterday whilst weaving through traffic my Sprint suddenly developed a really bad wobble. I pulled over and discovered the rear wheel was only just held on by one bolt, all the others had come off!! (i'm sure I checked them after the rebuild, but maybe I only intended to) . A local Harley dealer lent me a socket set and gave me a some new bolts so I was able to get home......then the fear set in.

This could have had a nasty outcome.......so for the sake of your loved ones, check your nuts.

Mine are just fine, thank you.

Oh... You meant the ones on the scooter.

You do have lock washers also? It's good to replace them once in a while as they tend to flatten out and become less effective.

Get some nylocks on mate and try swap them when youve changed the wheel a few times. I got a shit load of splits when i worked opposit an engineers. The gaffer gave me a total stainless fixing kit when I did my rebuild.

Im gonna get some nylocks in stainless when I run out

I'm on an iPhone right now so it doesn't display your model beside your avatars.

On my Super 150 there are no nuts on the other side of the wheel bolt (to the hub) -- it's a threaded fit. Should there be nuts, too? There are nuts for the split rims, but not for the wheel bolts, only lock washers. Should I investigate getting longer wheel bolts to accomodate nylocks?

Thanks in advance.
