So, I was leaving the bookstore last night & donning my gear when I was approached by a drunk, lost bicyclist. It took a fair amount of time for me to figure out where he was heading & the safest way to direct his drunk ass there. I then took off, completely forgetting to finish strapping down my top bag I managed to ride through a few lights, down a hill, & through two roundabouts before it flew off my seat in the middle of an intersection as I entered downtown. Did I mention that the bag is black & it was dark out? The 3 or 4 cagers behind me deftly swerved around it & the next couple stopped as i pulled over. Someone traveling in the opposite direction then turned left to block it until I was able to jog back & snatch it up. Thank you so much aware cagers They helped turn what could have been a disaster into merely an embarrassing incident.

Wow, that was extremely nice of them to do that for you. I suspect if that occurred here in Toronto, a cager in an SUV would have aimed for it to run it over.

Not all cagers are complete bastards y'know when I'm driving my car (some days for many hours) I try and be a model of gentlemanly conduct - okay, not slow, but very polite and helpful

Which is exactly why I posted this. It made me feel all warm & fuzzy toward people in general, which is all to rare for me

There are some good cagers out there. I had a van almost sideswipe me while changing lanes. Thankfully, I intuitively saw this coming and hit the brakes. He finally saw me after the fact. At the next traffic light, the driver actually rolled the window down and apologized to me!

There is a good possibility that they also have two-wheelers of their own, or have family members who ride scooters. .... and some people are just plain thoughtful and attentive to the needs of others.

Regardless...cager, MC / scooters / mopeds, bicyclist and even pedestrians...there are good people out there and there are some that could stand some improvement.

I have to remind myself to not prejudge what I "see"...if you treat folks fairly on and off the road...you'll be pleasantly surprised!
