I need some clarification here - regarding my GTS 250 2009 - Shock Absorber:

The manual indicates that there are 3 settings for the shock absorber - yet I have seen some other threads that have described 4 settings for the GTS (?)

Based on the manual I'm 245 pounds (and climbing) - I was inclined to use position 2 (medium pre-loading driver only). Am I correct here? or are there really 4 positions.

Thanks in advance.

There are four setting, 1 through 4. For your weight I'd use 2 but you could try 3 to see which you prefer. If you take a passenger put it up to 4.

Shock Absorber GTS
Thanks.

Does it make sense that the GTS manual - indicates only 3 settings? What gives here?

The user manual shows four positions here. Page 30:

Would you happen to know which position is which? When it says "preload", I assume that the more compressed the spring, the higher the adjustment number. There aren't any numbers on the shock. Also, is there any trick to using that infernal wrench they provide?

My question was answered. I may have to become a regular here.

Thanks for the pointer.

I weigh 220 and found the 3rd (second hardest) setting works best for me. The first 2 had the bike's rear wagging on turns. It doesn't feel hard at all and I never bottom out (and neither does my GTS).

Rear Shock Absorber Setting
OK - that sounds good - since I was unable to re-set the position myself - I will let the dealership do it -

sounds like for for my weight - of 246 (this AM) - I should go for Position 3.

Thanks.

I would - I use position 2 on my Fuoco and use position 3 on the X9s. Only 152 lbs...

try position 4 - you'll like it
Hi,

I weigh the exact same as you (245lbs) and I set my shocks to position 4 and the scooter handles great for my fat ass. I reccomend you do the same and keep your tires inflated a bit on the high side.

BTW, it's super easy to change the position of the shocks with the tool in the Vespa toolkit. No need to visit the dealer.

Have fun,
SC

I weigh 165-170 and I'm currently on #2 but thinking of going to #3 since it feels like I'm bottoming out on harsh bumps.

I also highly recommend the Bitubo shock upgrade for the front. That made a world of difference over bumps and hard breaking. I don't have the rears yet.
