Most of my riding is at night due to my working hours/job - i love it because its quieter on the roads and everything is more visible (mainly city riding)

When I was a new owner last summer I was riding almost every night. After 1yr+ ownership my nightime riding is about 10% of my riding time.
At night main concerns are animals & not seeing road conditions & debris in road. I stay in the city & stick to well lit/well known major streets. What I do like about nightriding is less congestion and oddly at least from my experience cagers seem to notice you better. What's funny is that at night they can't tell if your on a scoot or larger motorcycle. After yeilding to me and as I approach closer they seem to get this embarasssed look about them. Realizing they just stopped for a scooter that was over a block away thinking I was a ninja about to tear off at any moment at 80 mph. |

I really enjoy city riding at night. Last August, my club and I rode from Orlando to St. Augustine at night. It was an amazing ride; hardly any traffic on A1A.

while I love nighttime temps, I am pretty much night blind so I HATE driving at night unless I know every nook and cranny of the road I am on. But probably most of all I hate the drunks. I cannot believe the difference of driving at noon vs. midnight.

Interesting. I don't like riding in the rain that much but I love to ride fast on quick open A roads when there's no one about and the advantage of riding at night is that you can see them coming the opposite way - tghis is of course if they don't blind you with their headlights !
How much of a thrill is diving into a blind bend at night with your headlight in the trees and the white line as a reference point. Joy. |
