I have just recently had my 2002 ET2 go through an extensive repair. Along the way I have heard that if you put too much fuel into the gas tank that it is likely to overflow into a separate area to avoid overflowing the main tank. Will this separate tank (I am lost as to what this really is) cause problems of any kind?
I believe you may be referring to the situation that can occur if you overfill your gas tank or scoot gets dropped and the gas will make it's way out of the overflow tube and into you evap. canister / evap. tube.
Please go to the Wiki Library and read up on the Evap hose removal.
The overflow of gas will flow into and soak the air filter. If the air filter becomes soaked with gas, it will not let the engine breath and you will have a hard time running your engine. Now, not all Vespas have the evap system, the ones in the UK don't seem to, but the North American ones do.
Does the ET2 have an evaporation cannister. That seems unlikely. Anyone know for sure? Sounds like the OP has mostly been reading other posts about scoots with the evap system.
