I am trying to decide what scooter I should get. I have narrowed it down to these options:

Piaggo Fly--Test drived this one and LOVED it, can buy for new or used, used red, 2006, 1500$, and 6061 miles on it

Vespa ET4--I can buy used 2005 black and silver ET4, with 2,200 miles for 2'750 $

LT150-- Not for sale at dealerships, not for sale used on classified sites (in my area), so I can't test drive it, and I would have to have it shipped from somewhere else.

I don't want to spend anymore then 3500$. (Total, registeration, licensing, shipping, etc) My favorite thing about the Fly was how agile and powerful it felt. Since there aren't any LT150's that I can find, it is really between the ET4 or the Fly. I want to use my scooter to get around about a 7 mile radius around my house. Including my school, grocery store, a farm, and a dairy parlor.

The listing for the ET4 went up about 2 hours ago, is it a good deal? Should I go see it?

search the threads in here that has a few pictures of ET4s there are a couple of real nice ones that folks have done up. There are a lot of modifications you can do to that ET but other then a top box that is all you will be able to do to the fly. I prefer the metal frame of the Vespa but in the end it is a matter of choice. 22OO miles is very low and they both look in nice condition. The best one I have seen is a silver one with a special seat and orange wheels.
here is my old one with a few modifications

I liked how less 'toyish' the ET4 looked. If I buy a new white fly, it isn't so bad, but I am not crazy about the red.

But, as far as performance, traction in bad weather, and what you get for your money, which is better? I don't think I would change the ET4 very much, I won't have any money after I buy this lol.

I like white scooters as well, I agree the fly would look better in white and more visible to other road users. You may not change anything right away on the ET but if you keep it for a few years you would have that option. Same engine in both so performance would be very close. Perhaps the fly with the double front fork would handle better I don't know I have not ridden one but the single sided front fork like the Vespa has been around for 60 years and improved consistently, so I doubt you would notice a big difference. They are scooters not sportbikes, I hope you remember that when ripping around your neighbourhood impersonating Evil Kenivil

Oh, and there is this ET4 for 3300$ too:

2001 Vespa ET4 150cc (Red). Comes with all accessories seen in pictures (3 original Vespa helmets, lock, rear case, windshield, etc), and has the performance exhaust. Plus has many chrome trim pieces not seen in the pictures, including chrome fold up rear tray (like the one seen in the front). 5568 original miles, no accidents, clean title in hand for easy transaction. Beautiful color, great gas mileage, and comes with all the bells and whistles. The ONLY reason I'm selling it is because, after 3 foot surgeries, the doctors say "no"

$3500?

You could buy a 250cc for that, and go 80 mph and ride it home, or rent a U-Haul motorcycle trailer for $15.

2006 Piaggio BV 250cc Scooter; great condition and great to ride, only 5000 miles; get 80 mpg and keep up with traffic!
Red with matching top box; great for commute and stop to shop on the way home - plenty of storage capacity.
Moves out ... I ride up lower Mt. Rose at 50-60 mph easily.

I think a 200 cc + is a little bit too much scooter for me

They are actually the most flexible. You can ride a 250 around town just like a 150, but if you need to get on the highway for a bit they will handle that too.

But, since the Fly is cheap and is an Italian made one, that is probably your best bet. Save your extra money for 3 months from now when you realize you need a 250, and then you can trade up..

My vote goes to the Fly. For around town, it's a winner! Keeps up with traffic nicely and is light enough to be nimble. Yes, you can always trade up later if you find 150cc isn't enough, but for what you describe, it should be plenty.

People will steer you towards a higher cc scooter but i prefer a 150. I have the LT 150 and a LX which is the ET will some extras. Essentially the same scooter. Hands down i would go for the ET. While i love the LT the ET will be more nimble and is a joy to get around on. IMHO

I also vote for the ET4. There are many more accessories for it.

ET4. Just because I have one and I like the look versus the modern Fly.

Of those you postulate - the ET4. But I endorse those who have suggested you should really get a 250...

The Piaggio 250 models are in the main 'best of breed'.

Dairy parlor? The ET would get my nod as well. I have seen the light and I prefer the looks of the ET series over the 'newer' LX series.

Fly 150
I have a 2007 fly 150 in the red and absolutely love it. Great for getting around town, starts every time and hasn't had any problems. Handles great and my wife hops on with me and we go all over town. I do enjoy the red and it seems to have great visibility.

However, you may find like me, that you absolutely love scootering and want to go more than 7 miles. If that's the case you may want to shoot for the 250 as others have mentioned. I would love to upgrade at some point to the bv250 so we can go farther/faster. But for $1500 you really can't go wrong with the fly.

Good luck!
