I showed Sue your post, she cracked up!
Then she hit me with a book and went up stairs. |

Clearly, what is needed is a new modular rack/backrest/carrier system. Something where we could pop a backrest or case on when needed, and take it off quickly and easily when not. It annoys the hell out of me that I'd need to remove the rear badge from my S150 to put a factory topcase on it. I need something that's as easy and quick to remove as the windscreen, but that doesn't leave ugly rails on the bike all the time, or require badge removal, etc.
I'm sort of surprised something doesn't already exist in the aftermarket. |

You can bungee it to the footrests. |

For me ... there is no option. I HAVE to have a topbox! Whether or not it interferes with or ruins those "Vespa lines" is of no consequence. My Vespas are not just for having fun and riding because I love to ride ... they are a utilitarian transportation and I need to have a lockable area that won't cook my food for me prior to reaching home!
Someday, maybe I will have a Vespa (just for looks) with no crash bars and no top case ... but it won't get used much because almost every time I ride I also shop or combine my trip with a specific purpose which requires keeping something safe and unheated ... such as my camera! The crash bars are a necessity on Tortola. People here have very little respect for "paint" and open their car doors into your vehicle on a regular basis without a second thought. |
