You're probably the first person in the history of the world that currently OWNS a T5, and is gazing longingly at a Stella. It's typically the other way around.

in thirty years, your scoot will be worth more. because it is a real vespa, and not some third world copy. i get why people buy stellas. i do. they are brand new and shiny and you probably have a few years before you have much maintenance. if you have no desire to wrench you can probably just hop on and ride for 3 or so years. but they are not vespas and i do not think 30 years from now that they will be anywhere near as desirable as a real italian vespa.

Value on ANY vehicle tends to follow a "U" shaped graph, where decreases in cost up until the time it becomes collectible, and then increases from there. Stellas are at the beginning of that "U". P-series and GS160's ( any vintage) are on the other side of the dip.

retro s, i would say it is definitely the brand new effect. but, i would look for a clean p200 before i looked at a stella. we have a dealer that sells stellas less than an hour away. are like 3400 or so before all the dealer costs. with all the dealer costs, they are close to 4000. they lose money the minute you sign the papers, they look like a vespa (made on old p series stamps) but they are not vespas, and they are from the third world. in twenty years you have a indian frame with an indian engine in it. not a vespa. for 4000 dollars you can probably find a rally. there have been a lot of them for sale in the 4000 dollar range. and, you will have a bike worth what you paid for it.

To reinforce what Jeff is saying, look at old Bajaj's.
Those were made with vespa tooling, in india ...and were ( for all intents and purposes ) indian-made vespas for the 3rd world market. A good condition mid 60's or 70's Bajaj 150 ( which looks sorta like a Sprint ) is probably worth half of what a good condition Sprint 150 from that same year would be worth. Now, the Stella has a lot more amenities than your average vintage bike, but that's not really comparing apples to apples. A more valid comparison would be to compare a 2005 Stella with a 2005 PX150. In 20 years, will anyone want the stella - will it be the next Bajaj, with people actively seeking out the actual Italian vespas over the indian knockoffs? |

no , you got me wrong, its because when i bought it , the previous owner didnt tell me that i had to change 3/4 of the engine, and i was on a tight budget. im enjoying it a lot, and its damn fast especially compared to my vespa s. you know , money goes out fast from your pocket...

I love my P200E. I love my Stella. I didn't buy either of them for the investment value. Enjoy the ride!
