Amerivespa is in San Antonio in 2010, but if there are any scooter clubs that would seriously like to host Amerivespa in 2011 and beyond VCOA would like to hear from you.

Pulling an event off like amerivespa is not an easy task after watching Mike loose all his hair after learning he was hosting amerivespa 2009.The scooter club that willing to step up to the plate will get to host it,I just gotta worry about how to get there is the easy part. Razz emoticon

Canada could very well be an option. I don't think there's any rules about holding the event strictly within the United States of America. This is still North America, so Canada might be cool!

But if we start considering Canada, we also might want to start thinking south - MEXICO!!! No flying in and having your scoot trucked - your ass has to ride in order to check-in! Maybe . . . La Paz (Baja California)?

Wha? emoticon There is better surf in Georgia than the Chesapeake Bay. Madison, Ga is as close to the Atlantic Ocean as Baltimore. By your surf qualification, Baltimore wouldn't meet your standard it would have to be all the way east to Ocean City. Amerivespa was in Georgia, Tennessee and other locations because the local scooterists were willing to do the work required of good hosts. Your area would be great for an Amerivespa, but if the local clubs won't do the work of hosting it won't happen. If you want it there then show the hospitality of hosts. If not, then don't look down on those who do.

People in the middle atlantic states or north east don't need to whine about wanting a turn they need to take a turn doing the work.
Show that southern hospitality can be matched and we will come join you.

I wouldn't even propose Atlanta because it's already been around here twice since 2003. In the east coast I would love to see it in DC, Philly, Boston or NYC.

+1,
My goal is more to challenge the folks up there to step up to the plate and make it happen. It has happened in Atlanta because of those efforts by locals.

Hey, if we could get Baltimore to host, then maybe we could get Charm City Cakes to make us a Vespa cake to celebrate it. And then we would all be on the Food Network!

In 2007, there was a ferry to take us to Vashon Island (sp?). I think it's still considered "scooting" if we chartered a cruise liner across the Pac.

Otherwise, we'd have to call Jesse James to customize our rides with pontoons. That MP3 500 isn't looking so bad now . . .

Actually you are right on the mark. Mary of Charm City Cakes is an active scooterista here. She brought a beautiful scooter cake to our 2006 Charm City rally, and another one to the epic PVSC camping rally a month ago.

The challenge is to get the local clubs around here to go all out for what some of them perceive is a mostly modern scooter event. To me it's just scooters; the councours at Saratoga this month was a lineup of pure beauty, mostly vintage. And there were some incredible rides; the long one up Mt. Hamilton on Thursday was anything but a slow parade. VCLG (with the whole NorCal community) did a great job of providing something for everyone. The sad part is that nobody else from the east coast was there to see them show us the way.

Mary is one rocking chick! I am sad that people of all scooter flavors can't enjoy a rally. I don't understand the snobbery of classics vs modern, etc. I can understand why people love vintage, and want to collect and restore them, but to my mind, anything that promotes scootering as a whole, and Vespas in particular is good for raising the profile of the community. Not everyone is mechanically inclined, just enjoy the speed and stylin' scoot.

Philadelphia would be an excellent choice. I wonder if the Hostile City Scooter Club is ready to do the work?
