My Stebel Nautilus just arrived
I just hooked it up to one of my 12V ham radio supplies.... man does that sucker draw some current and it's LOUD!!!
I plan to install it as a second horn and keep the stock horn in place.
I'll take pictures once it's installed.... first I need to go to radio shack.

Welcome to the Stebel club. You're going to enjoy having that additional horn on your scooter!

Where do you plan on installing the button to activate the Stebel horn?

Well I've taken the button area apart.... but I think the button I have on hand is only a temporary solution. Where can I find a stock "replacement" button for a BV250?
Here's what the button and plug looks like removed.

Same button as an ET4 and probably other piaggios. Dealer should stock them as they fail reasonably regularly. GTS seat release button is also similar I believe.

I didn't realize that you folks with the BVs had a spot to add a perfect extra horn button, great.

BV 250 horn button
You can order a horn button online from AthensScooterCo.com. I just got mine. It cost $13.80, shipping was $9.99. The part number is 58058R. Now I have to order a horn.

This posting on installing the Stebel Nautilus on a BV500 may be helpful to you. I hope that it works out well! Consider also taking some pictures of the steps so that other BV250 owners can benefit from your experience.

I have been taking pics each step of the way.... thanks for the guide....
The BV500 is very similar, except for the headlamp. On the BV250 the headlights are in the leg shield, which has made spacing rather difficult. For now I just temporarily strapped it in with a tywrap, it got too dark to do any more work outside. But, now I have everything I need to install the new horn... in-line fuse holder, wire, pushbutton, crimp on push on connectors, and the BV250 wiring diagram.

Here's what it looks like temporarily tywrapped in, I think this is how I'll eventually end up mounting it. Sorry for the blurry images it's too dark for my camera to focus properly.

From the photo it looks like the compressor is horizontal and not vertical. This could be a problem with the longevity of the compressor.

As I mentioned earlier this is just temporary mounting. I did try to mount it upright, but there just isn't room for it. I may have better luck tomorrow....

Have you seen some of the other recent Stebel threads? One of our members split the horn from the compressor and connected it with aquarium tubing to allow an alternative mounting in two locations. This may help with finding space.
Good luck.

That's really cool; now you have the stock horn for a friendly 'Bip Bip! Hiya!', and the Stebel for a 'ERRRRRRR!!! GETOUTTATHEWAY!' 8)

Good luck finding the perfect spot

Good luck.
I am preparing to install a Stebel this weekend on my GTV and have been a gathering parts for it. I anticipate having to seperate the compressor from the horn. I purchased 5/16" (inside diameter) vinyl tubing and a 5/16" nylon barb coupler that fits into the hole where the compressor enters the horn. I had to search several hardware stores to find 5/16".

Be careful taking the horn apart. Gently pry back the retaining clip where the compressor enters the horn and the retaining clip around the compressor.

OOOOO! No I haven't seen any of the threads about splitting it in two, but that would work perfectly! Thumbs up to both of ya.

Kim-

Some Googling produced this picture that shows the horn split in two for a BV250 install. Found here.
