Hi All,

Just floating an idea out there for you all to consider and discuss. Would any of you be interested in some sort of charity ride ? Maybe in 2010 as we are all such busy people?
I haven't really thought of any definate plan, something like Lands End to John o'groats or visiting every fooball ground in the UK. Or something more unusual like visiting 150 windmills in 2 days. As you can see I have given very little actual thought to this.

But if a plan could be hatched it might be a nice way for the people of MV to do some good for a deserving cause.

Any thoughts?

I agree on the football thing. My brain just had a frozen moment. (it happens )

But you like the idea in principle!

Now all we need is whole bunch of more people, a charity, somewhere to go, or something to do and a date.

Well.

1. Great Ormond Street (we could arrange to take the scooters there and give presents or present a cheque or something)
2. NSPCC, I have supported them for years.
3. Help for Heroes
4. Cancer Research

Or any other suggestions, if any one has a charity that is important to them please suggest it.

(we have 3 thats a good start )

CLAPA would be on my list, The Cleft Lip & Palate Association. Would be nice to support them on the MV ride. I've supported GOS for quite some time too! I'll get back to you on some ideas.

We can get a list and have a vote. Lets see how many are interested and we will go with the popular choice.

Any ideas of what to do? Lands end to John O Groats seems a bit obvious for this forum. Maybe something more obscure?

hmmm, sounds good. Strangely enough I've been thinking of a breakfast bap all day, basically it's like full english breakfast in a massive bun or breadcake I think.

How about trying for famous pubs along a route?
Pick the pubs then make a dot to dot route to suit.
Pictures taken outside each one as proof then onto the next?

Oh, me me me!

I like the Land's End to John O'Groats idea - I must be very unoriginal

Trying to think of sites of scooting interest we could join up to make a ride, but the UK seems a bit short of them.

I'm particularly interested in armed forces charities and pet charities, so Help for Heroes or Battersea would be just great.

The pubs sounds good to me. Although it might be quite a short ride.

Kam, I like both your ideas, especially the second one.

I am cool with the Lands End John o'groats thing. It could actually work out well for those who can;t make the whole trip, they could tag along for a while and we could raid their homes for supplies (garibaldis and pink wafers)

Pepy Bros. Is this your cup of tea?

Bill, not to worry mate, you can be in charge of the pre-ride polishing.

I'd be up for at least a part (depending on distance & timing)... I saw someone voicing concern over CC's... My 50 is limited to 30mph... ! I suppose riders could be grouped and set off at different times to allow for top speed (and lack of ability on my part!)...? Or a shorter run for littler scoots?
Great idea though! Help for Heroes would be a good charidee to support.

Sounds interesting. I would have a better idea when a firm date is set.

I didn't mean a pub crawl as such....more a dot to dot each day finishing at one maybe that doubled up as a B&B?

How about a south coast tip to tip?
Margate to lands End?

My vote would be for Help the Heroes.

A little ambitious. Laughing emoticon

Maybe Pepys idea could work. Would cater for all and we get to go to lots of pubs.

What do others think of a South Coast Charity Ride?

Leave midlands (or where you live)
Catch ferry from Stranraer Scotland
Arrive Belfast
Ride down to Dublin ferry to Hollyhead in Wales - home

Would be a mad dash but totally do able Laughing emoticon

What's the maximum amount of days your looking at to do this charity ride in?

Why the uk?.

Just got back from doing the Moimoron rally in the south of france 1300 miles in a week. the weather and roads are much better.

catford to the cote d'azur sounds much more appealing.

I am not against Europe. I would like to keep the trip within a week or so. Just for work reasons. I thought a ride within the UK might be easier for some of the other UK people (some with 50's or 125's) to join in even if they did not want to do the whole thing. but I am happy to go with the flow.

I quite liked the pictures of Iceland.

I'd prefer just a weekend ideally, for reasons of sparse Annual Leave.

I like the South Coast idea - all the way round the UK coast would take a looong time.
