I'd do that on the GTV just for the hell of it. |

I've used the Gosport ferry and it takes about three minutes - there are lots of scooters on there and Portsmouth has quite a big scooter scene. Once you get off the ferry, you'll find posters for all sorts of scooter shindigs.
Made me cross I hadn't brought mine with me! |

So we are going to have two groups one with the 50/125s and the super 200cc+ are we? 558 wrote: as a student I am poor still looking on enthusiastically but these are some long distances I would have no problem with motorway stints but in the name of inclusiveness Oh yes! One more thing next year would be great, although I am in my last year of uni. I think my uni course are going to barcelona around the time of the ride, so I can make some sort of excuse to not go with em! (crazy or dedicated...u answer for me) Have I missed anything else?? |

Spoke to my father earlier and he recons that the RAF would be inclined to help and that photo ops could be arranged.
I had an idea earlier. A mascot, I (father) can get unservicable uniform, if some one has a blow up doll and we're on ![]() |

I'm a maybe on this due to uni and work . I'll know for certain once I know my timetable for feb to may, submission dates etc, and that nothing hectic work-wise is going on. Fingers crossed, I'm able to do this ride.
I'm not too in the know on the whole uk defense thing but isn't there a Naval base in Portsmouth? anyway to get photo op there? that way land, sea and air is covered. |

Update
I have confirmed a few things. The ride will be over the weekend of 10th April 2010. It will be from Margate to Lands End and it will be for 'Help For Heroes' To take part in this ride please donate £50.00 to Help For Heroes. You can either do that here: http://www.justgiving.com/ModernVespa/ or send the money to me and I will donate it for you. I have also registered the event with Help For Heroes.
If you could also gain more sponsorship I would be grateful. Put the link in your sig? on your websites and anywhere else you can think. Get on to your boss, your rich cousin or anyone who might be interested and send them the link. I realise this ride is not what everyone wants, but this is the first time I have done something like this. If it works well, we will do one up north. Or in Europe. Or the US!!! So the Link is : http://www.justgiving.com/ModernVespa/ & https://modernvespa.com/forum/topic50633 Lets see what we can do. Marc *things to be sorted out, exact route, groups, accomadation, patch design and who is coming. |

Well done Marc.
I have an idea for a possible military style stop off. http://www.newhavenfort.org.uk/ The Battle of Britain Memorial (photo opp) is on the B2011 near Folkestone. The Gosport Ferry doesn't help really. I think the L platers would be better off going north around Portsmouth. ⚠️ Last edited by Pepy27 on UTC; edited 2 times

Looking in the diary I've got a nice man coming over to read the meter that weekend.
And no that's not a excuse to make a really cheap porn film but Lord knows I've tried. Why do I keep giving the Lord Almighty a capital letter when I choose not to believe ? Bill X |

One of Her Majesty's subjects please correct me if I am wrong, but if one of us who is not a UK resident wishes to contribute to this very worthy cause, would it not be better to make the donation through one of the UK folks in order to get the Charities contribution? In short, if I give the money (via PayPal, for example) to one of you instead of directly to HFH, the government matches part of my contribution, resulting in more money for the cause.
If so, then I'd like to contribute through one of you. Al |

Bill, as you well know I can measure an inside leg whilst riding.
Aviator47, you are correct on the GiftAid, you have to be a UK resident. I would suggest my PayPal account but it is a business account and is not eligable for GiftAid. I will try to open a personal account and send you the details, or you can send the money to one of the other UK'ers. Thanks for the support, don't fancy a trip over in April then? All, Anyone offended by Page3 girls? |

All, Anyone offended by Page3 girls? Thanks for the info. I know one of the gang that has a personal PayPal account and will see if it works OK with them. I have a meeting in Cambridge annually in the Spring, but it would either be a couple of weeks before Easter (4 Apr) or a couple of weeks after. If the two can be combined, they will! It's always a Fri-Sat affair, so it might conflict. Might work, so we will have to wait and see. Al |
