£1.10 for each scoot seems a bargain to me.

I've used the Gosport ferry and it takes about three minutes - there are lots of scooters on there and Portsmouth has quite a big scooter scene. Once you get off the ferry, you'll find posters for all sorts of scooter shindigs.

Hey everyone, I have dissapeared for a few days..(my Macbook pro decided it didnt want to turn on..AND decided to make horrible bleeping sounds) I am using my work pc to access MV and also my iPhone

Alot has gone on while I was away (had to read the whole 4 pages to get a jist of what was going on). So we are going to have two groups one with the 50/125s and the super 200cc+ are we? £50 will not be a problem but I need to know how much hotels blah blah blah would cost me. (No camping please City boy here wouldn't have the first clue about trees..and what ever you do when you camp!)

Oh yes! One more thing next year would be great, although I am in my last year of uni. I think my uni course are going to barcelona around the time of the ride, so I can make some sort of excuse to not go with em!

Spoke to my father earlier and he recons that the RAF would be inclined to help and that photo ops could be arranged.

I'm a maybe on this due to uni and work . I'll know for certain once I know my timetable for feb to may, submission dates etc, and that nothing hectic work-wise is going on. Fingers crossed, I'm able to do this ride.

I'm not too in the know on the whole uk defense thing but isn't there a Naval base in Portsmouth? anyway to get photo op there? that way land, sea and air is covered.

I have confirmed a few things. The ride will be over the weekend of 10th April 2010. It will be from Margate to Lands End and it will be for 'Help For Heroes' To take part in this ride please donate £50.00 to Help For Heroes. I realise this ride is not what everyone wants, but this is the first time I have done something like this. If it works well, we will do one up north. Or in Europe. Or the US!!!

The Battle of Britain Memorial (photo opp) is on the B2011 near Folkestone.

The Gosport Ferry doesn't help really. I think the L platers would be better off going north around Portsmouth.

i have not got any of the above excuses going on that weekend and barring any conferencing activity requiring my presence elsewhere on the planet, sign me up.

i know little to nothing about military history - all i know is that i have a very old uncle who served in india in WWII and came back with all sorts of exotic diseases. he turns 90 this january

One of Her Majesty's subjects please correct me if I am wrong, but if one of us who is not a UK resident wishes to contribute to this very worthy cause, would it not be better to make the donation through one of the UK folks in order to get the Charities contribution? In short, if I give the money (via PayPal, for example) to one of you instead of directly to HFH, the government matches part of my contribution, resulting in more money for the cause.

If so, then I'd like to contribute through one of you.

Aviator47, you are correct on the GiftAid, you have to be a UK resident. I would suggest my PayPal account but it is a business account and is not eligable for GiftAid. I will try to open a personal account and send you the details, or you can send the money to one of the other UK'ers.

Thanks for the info. I know one of the gang that has a personal PayPal account and will see if it works OK with them.

I have a meeting in Cambridge annually in the Spring, but it would either be a couple of weeks before Easter (4 Apr) or a couple of weeks after. If the two can be combined, they will! It's always a Fri-Sat affair, so it might conflict. Might work, so we will have to wait and see.
