It's not like it's a fine painting that you are using as a coaster. Ride the damn thing, that's why they made it with wheels!

I have my ET2 and P2 for different uses.
Not that there is anything wrong with scooter redundancy or collections of scoots which aren't used, but if you WOULD use them both in the same faculty, and prefer the use of the T5, then the S isn't really doing anything for you, is it? Seems if the S was some cool collectible, then fine, let it sit around for the occasional ride. But if it is giving you no joy just sitting there, I'd personally unload it and use the money for something which DOES give you joy just sitting around, or perhaps even something which won't sit around The S is only as cool as you let it be, by riding it around and having people go "ooh, what a shiny new Vespa." It won't get any cool points for sitting in your garage until many years from now As to letting the T5 sit and riding the S... seems silly since you obviously would rather ride the T5. If ever a Vespa was meant to be ridden, you T5 is one of them ⚠️ Last edited by xantufrog on UTC; edited 1 time

I always find it kind of humorus when people tell me that I shouldn't be riding such a "collectors Item". I posted in another thread about a guy I met that didn't want to ride his ET4 because it was going to be worth sooooo much money in the future.
I'm not a vintage expert, and honestly, I have no problem with people that want to do full correct restorations and keep their scooters as show bikes. It's their scooter and they can do whatever they want with it! Except for a few models, I just don't see the return on "investment" for most vintage scooters. Picking the ones that are going to increase significantly is always the hard part! In another thread people were talking about how a 1979 200P new was like $1,200 and now goes for like $2300. We can argue prices but you get the idea. Yeah that about 100% increase...over 30 years.....about $37 a year. I don't think I can retire on that! Unless you bag and gas it, tires will dry rot, carb needs rebuild....blah...blah....blah. I just ride the snot out of mine! |

Retro, I feel like you are just rubbing it in that you have a T5 by (sigh) asking us if you should be riding it.
With all due respect, grow a pair. |

i think the question should be :
"which one is more fun to ride?" and the answer should be dictated by the type of ride you're going on, i suppose. |

And it sounds like you are riding the T5 much more, which might indicate your personal preference? Whatever your preference is, just go with it. Other people can't make the decision for you... they don't know what you want and like. The T5 is very special, but not special in the "put it behind a glass case kind of way," more special like "ride it, love it, and impress everyone with how well that old scoot tears it up" - again, if the T5 is in fact the one you would rather be riding |

Ride the T5. It's cheaper to maintain. You don't have all the scheduled maintence for the belt, rollers and other electronic crap that always need to be looked at on the twist and go Vespas.

Just because somthing is old does not make it vintage in my book. Yes,they don't make them like they used too but come on... Rally 200 vs P200 Night and Day... IMHO. 1960's Fender Guitar vs 1970's Fender Guitar? Night and Day... |

Can I have a go here?
I'm pretty much in the same boat as retro s. Here's how I divide my time between my rides. '97 PX150e for city commutes. There's just something about putt-putting around town in a classic. Plus, driving geared only for short distances puts off the carpal tunnel syndrome for now.. '07 LX150 for weekend long rides. I guess it's just the inexperienced rider in me talking, but automatic CVT just inspires more confidence in the twisties. I get to enjoy high speeds better when I'm not worried about the correct shifting/braking techniques. So there, that's my two cents. You have a nice pairing (T5 and S) with distinct uses, so dont let go of either! |
