I've been riding my used '05 to and from my office in SF for over a year now. The Faco Crash Bar defect finally struck so badly that I needed to completely replace the water pump intake hose (fun!). I decided to remove the crash bars until I could figure out a way to modify the bracket. While I was in there I sourced/painted/replaced one of the plastic side panels which was cracked from the previous owner (thanks for the parts emcosa!)

Wrapped up all the repairs last week and kicked down for a full pop Givi e370 on Monday. Installed the Givi, waxed her up and admired my handy work.

Today I notice the case is a little askew and I think, "funny, those janky brackets loosened up super fast."

Then it dawned on me.

I looked on the side the case had moved away from and there it was: a nice big scratch in my cowling, side cover and demolition of the trim strip. Argh!!!

Couldn't the jack-hole who knocked over my scoot had done it a week earlier (or six months) while I still had those useless crash bars installed?!

I guess it's just the tax you pay for living in the city. Your scooter will get knocked over. It's just a matter of when. Sigh.

Sorry to hear that happened...
I finished customizing my 250, and the following day on the 1st group ride at Amerivespa, mine fell over as I parked it on the side of the road to direct traffic after a lady crashed in a corner. I was so sick....
