BTW, Id never rebadge it, in fact Id smack a big Indian flag on it. It is what it is.

The publisher dropped off 20 copies for the krew the other day. One copy is for Kate, if you'd be so kind. I know she's literate, as we went to the same university.

A pleasure to have been able to send it along. May I use your "honourary" degree line? I love it. One of my grad school advisers in the Colonies said he was in an "accelerated program" in university. They ran him off the campus.

Not sure. There is actually that same conversation going on on the Not-So side about some sort of other LML bike.

There is this and it does point out some differences but not enough as far as parts go.

Probably most will fit... again the P200 is much the same body of a PX and stella. You can use the seat, tanks, horncrest, etc. You would not be able to use the cowls, as they have a different locking mechanism. You will not be able to use the front fender without drilling a hole as the P2 fender is not made for the hydraulic front disk brakes. You would not WANT to use the P2 front fork, as the disk-brake hub of the stella/PX will not fit.

Still, most other parts would be of the same dimensions.

I think they have it ready to roll out but are getting it CARB tested and whatnot right now. I sure hope it is bigger than 150cc if it's a 4 stroke, because it won't have the pep that the 2 stroke has.

Almost 7K now (still with the original clutch cable). Almost no problems. Headlight socket is worn and only works on low beam (need to get a new one). I need to replace the brake pads/shoes soon. I'm on the second set of tires (Heidenau's K61's now). Horn stopped working some time ago (haven't checked why as I almost never use it).

I've changed the gear oil every spring and done all the recommended maint. (Easy to do.)

Other than that it's been perfect. It's worth noting that it dosen't have an easy life either. I ride it year 'round in Wisconsin (Heidenau snow tires for winter), I was hit by a car earlier this summer, and my wife dropped it a few years ago when she wanted to learn how to ride a shifter scooter.

In addition to the parts mentioned:
The airbox bottom is different -- can't swap
Wiring/switches are slightly different -- can swap with modification.
cases are different (reed valve) -- can't swap
intake manifold different (see above) -- can't swap

There's probably a few more things I can't think of right now.

You need to be more specific about your comparisons, too, because there's plenty of PX stuff that aren't compatible with other PX's!

I mean, there's plenty of crap on a P200 that won't work on a P125 / P150, etc from the same year! P-series are a lineage that's been produced for over 20 years, with a ton of iterations and changes and upgrades over the lifespan.

Apples to apples, i bet about 80% of the parts from a new PX150 will probably fit on a Stella ... but there's a lot of weird differences, too.. the stella engine is different due to the reed valve. The electrics are different. The cowl locking mechanism is different DEPENDING on which year vespa you're comparing it with, etc.

It's like saying "what parts from an old Ford Mustang will fit on my current ford mustang?" I dunno...what specific years are you comparing? It could be most, or it could be virtually none.

i do have to admit i quite like the stella. i've legit p's, but there is something about it that speaks to me.

when i first got it, it was a POS out of the crate, but since i've replaced lots of stuff with piaggio parts and have everything dialed in, it's really a nice rider.

i'm up to around 1,400 on the odometer now, and it hits 50-55 easily and is just a smooth bike. it's well work the 3k or so i paid for it. i know lots of people bag on them for not being 'real bike,' but i really like mine.

Just talked to my local mechanic, who is a great bloke. He says the the build quality is far better than the later PXs and is very surprised that he doesn't see more of them. I told him that he would certainly see a lot more soon, as a local dealer has just started selling them.

I'm thinking about the tangerine orange LML Italia version.
