So the Mesh Jacket and yellow vest arrived, so I feel well protected from the waist up. I can get decent business casual shoes that are over the ankle, but I was wondering if anyone has seen something along the lines of kevlar khakis?

Great question! I have scoured the net for something like that, but no luck. It looks like maybe overpants are a solution, but I haven't bought any yet. Will be interested to see other replies...

Rather than wearing armoured pants all day long at work, just get riding pants that will fit over whatever pants you wear that day for work. This is what I do, I have a pair of Scorpion riding pants that have a removable rain proof liner. In the winter I leave the liner in and just wear my work pants underneath. In the summer when it is hot, the liner is out and the riding pants are mesh. I can then wear shorts under if it is hot and I'm not working, or dress pants if needed for work.

What about wrinkles?
Great suggestion, but I was worried that the mesh riding pants would cause the work clothes underneath to get horribly wrinkled/creased.

Check these out:
http://www.dragginjeans.com.au/products/chinoPants/index.htm I don't know if they are available in the US. But they do exist, so there is sure to be a way to get them or an equivalent if they look like what you are after. |

Draggin Jeans
ThereĀ“s similar gear made in the USA and the UK. I had a look at this kevlar stuff after I was hit by a car. They make T-shirts, jeans, khakis, light weight jackets and all sorts of stuff. With and without armour. I got all excited over a bomber jacket from Israel at EUR300. Suitable for scooter wear and bullet proof. |

I started a thread about this a while ago. Hope it helps.

I typically change from my riding pants to work dress when I arrive at the hospital. However, when I can't because I'm at a different location, then I will wear my Draggin' Jeans chinos. They seem to pass the grade with my peers.

I have a similar problem
I was wondering if anyone has seen a line of formal wear for the discriminating two-wheeled motorist. I have been shopping around for an armored tuxedo jacket. I also need a full-face top hat and a polarized riding monocle. |

Like HonestlyLincoln but less sarcastically , I'm pretty skeptical of this notion.
I have a difficult time imagining a pair of armored khakis that would "pass inspection" as anything other than cycle pants in an office environment. Armor is going to make it hang weirdly, with bulges where dress pants - and you! - shouldn't have bulges. To be blunt, I think it'll look like ass. I strongly recommend armored overpants as your best solution. In combination with dark (i.e. wrinkle-hiding) chinos or trousers, IMO that's going to give you the best combination of safety and office-appropriate dress. |

I too mostly do the overpant approach though. |

I'm in a similar situation and opted for the overpant solution for my commute. Cheaper than trying to find protective pants that don't look like motorcycle pants. Most at a reasonable price well have the extra stitching around the knees at the very least. Tucano urbano makes some pants that would fit into the category you are looking for but I had little luck finding a retailer that would ship here. Draggin chinos are probably your best bet if you don't want over pants.
You could also supplement them or other pants with icon leg armor, I wear those with riding jeans but not as practical for the commute to work. |
