Hi there,

I saw a facebook ad for the Grip-lock... the website is www.grip-lock.com and I'm very interested in it for my MP3 250...

It's only $59 delivered anywhere in the world... There's videos on the site showing how it's super tough and would take a long time to get broken into...

What do you guys think of this? I am in a relatively safe area and I know if someone wants my bike, they will get it, just thought it could be looked at as a deterrant if anything..

I'm also nervous about sending them my credit card info and wanted to see if any of you have had experience with them and thier speed of shipping and if they ripped you off!!

Thanks in advance@@

It's just that $60.00 is a lot for a plastic lock. A cable and lock purchased at HD or Lowes would be more effective and cheaper.

Understood.. just a bike chain is ugly and can scratch the bike as clumsy as i am..

I like the look of this thing and if it works as a deterrant, I'm down with that!

My beef with it is that it provides the illusion of protection, but no actual protection at $60.00.

The fastest way to disable it is unscrew the brake pivot point.

If you do end up getting it, put it on the throttle side. As they drive off with it, atleast it will kind of get in the way when they twist the throttle.

The cable I was refering to is insulated and won't scratch anything.

Good luck bro, hope this helps.

My problem with the lever locks is, you take a pair of cable cutter, cut the brake cable and push the bike around the corner and load in a truck.

If someone wants it, they will take it... luckily, I park it in a garage at night and when i'm at my office, it's right outside the front door and the people in the front keep an eye on it for me... This will be useful for shoping trips, restaurant trips, etc -- places where I will leave it for more than an hour at a time unattended

I have it and I like it.
I use it when I park in the city. And I use it on the throttle side.
I use the steering lock and the parking brake locks the rear wheel.
The Grip-lock makes the front wheels locked as well.
And I like that is is visible so a potential thief knows i took precausions and may take an easier target.

if yoou want the grip lock just for a visual deterant fine. anything else it is easly broken or like Wayne said break the lever. use your sterring lock and if your converned about security you need a good cable lock/chain lock.

For a better return of your money I'd buy an alarm with a two way paging remote system. Not only will it be hellalla loud with a siren going, you'll get notified it's going off so hopefully you can do something about it. The Gorilla is just under $200 for their paging system alarm.

My ride is always locked with the brake and wheel lock. I have had little concern for theft of the bike with those locked.

My question is if anyone has knowledge of theft of an MP3? Where was it? How if any was it locked? How was it stolen?

The general forum has plenty of threads on stolen Vespas but I have yet to hear of anyone having the MP3 stolen. My low insurance premium reflects the insurance company thinks it is low theft risk too.

I've heard of two others.

But yes, very low risk. The younger pikeys don't want it for joy-rides, the professionals have no demand for them.
