Hiya! I've have a 2009 S 150 for about a month now and have finally sold enough of my possessions on ebay to afford some accessories! I know I want a rear rack & cowl protectors (not a front rack, tho, she's too pretty to cover up with bling!). On scooterworks & scooter west I see chrome by Faco, Cuppinni (sp?) and "original vespa." The different price points suggest difference in quality - does any body have suggestions on these, or other brands?

I have had the Faco rear bars and a cuppini rear rack as well as original Vespa accesspries and I can tell you that there is definately a difference in quality. I also have something that is sold as German chrome and it is of good quality, also (even though I forgot the name of the manufacturer).
That being said, I would buy whatever crash bars appeal to you in terms of price and style. Since it is supposed to soak up damage, I wouldn't worry about spending a ton on the most expensive set. The same with a rack- I would buy which ever one it is that looks like it will function the best for you. I have a Vespa rack that is on a shelf while a not-as-nice-looking Cuppini is on my scooter. The Cuppini just appeals to me more because it doesn't fold, doesn't rattle, and never needs to be tied open or modified in any way.

The aftermarket chromes naked, in my experience, will gather surface rust and pitting much faster than Vespa-brand chrome naked. That being said, all you need to do is apply chrome polish/wax on a regular basis, making sure it has a clean, protective coat on it, and you'll be fine. Otherwise, structurally I'd say they're all of the same quality.
If you're dependent on side crash bars doubling as foot rests for a passenger, you may want investigate the mounting points specifically for that as it will be different for different manufacturers.

Thanks for the info! The Cuppini rack is 1/2 the price of the vespa chrome, so that leaves room in my budget to get more accessories! I don't think I'm going to get crash bars yet, and I don't ride 2 up (not much room left...).

Very nice, my husband's favorite color is stainless steel. It's good enough for my wedding ring!

I've got a Faco crash bar on the rear of my LX 150 and I think it looks just fine. Easy to install.
