So it will be no surprise to most of you, whom are familiar with my situation, nor was it for me, that the final fix for my 'blown fuse' issue was to replace the wiring harness. It took the shop in San Diego a month to finally wake up Grandpa Piaggio, only to have him send a new wiring harness.

Nearly 2 months in the shop for this. When they removed the harness, they say they found a short. I'm not sure why the dealership mechanic couldn't figure this out earlier. At least the guys at Vespa San Diego are giving me a couple free accessories, and I'm talking to Piaggio about some more.

What will come as a surprise to most is that, once Piaggio tech woke up, it only took 4 days for the wire harness to get to the shop.

Whatever, I'm just glad to have my scooter.

Nick, I'm happy to hear that you're finally going to get your scooter back. It's been mind boggling that something like this took so long for them to fix. When they couldn't find the specific wire that was blowing the fuse within one day, they should have contacted Piaggio and had the harness freighted overnight so you would be back on the road in just a couple of days. It ain't rocket science and when a fuse keeps blowing, it's a wire that's grounding out somewhere along the path.

At any rate, it's good to hear that you're getting the scooter back (and running again).

It really, really gets my goat that such simple repairs take so long. The short was there and they only found it when they looked carefully? Sheesh. Sounds like a couple of UK dealers I could mention (but won't, the UK folk know who they are I'm sure).

The duff dealers are the ones who give the marque a bad name - and I do so wish Piaggio would wake up, realise this, and end their franchises ASAP.

Wow is that ever a frustrating situation, but I guess in the end the important thing is that you have your scooter back and are riding again.

I mildly understand your frustration. My scoot has been in the shop for 5 weeks as of today. There's a back up at the painter, because of a hail storm we had earlier in the summer. It's really my own fault for dropping the scoot to begin with.

I am so glad that you finally got yours back and are getting a little compensation for the delay. Now get off the board and go ride

as long as it is under warranty. sucks it takes your dealer so long. my suggestion is if you are mechanically inclined, do the work yourself.

Why leave a scoot in the shop waiting for a paint-job?

Madness.

Because in the States you lose your place in the queue if they don't have possesion of your vehicle.

You are right about the queue. Plus, all of the body work was taken off by the dealer in the first week that they got the scoot, so it wasn't drivable after that. Also, the front fender was broken and flapping around; it was still attached a bit, but I wasn't sure how well. I didn't feel it was safe to drive. I would hate for it to pop off on the road.

It hasn't been the end of the world though. The temperatures here have been brutal (104, 105, etc.). I don't know if I would have been riding much anyway. At least it will be ready to ride this fall and winter, except for the 3 days it gets around 32 degrees F

Hey Nick - good news to read at last. I have a lot to say about your situation, but will save it for our in-person meeting some day. SOMEDAY!

For a point of absolute clarification when you say the 'shop in San Diego', you are NOT meaning Motorsport Scooters.

Nope, not Motorsport. Mine was with 'Vespa of San Diego' on Kearny Villa Road.
