Having just done a long journey on a 125 with L-plates with stints on fast A roads, I don't see why there would be a problem. Fair enough the ET4 for example only topped out at around 55 to 60mph with a bit of a drop in speed in the uphills.

Besides I thought the aim of this was to raise a lot of cash for charity and get as many riders as possible to join in the fun. Shouldn't this ride accommodate all engine sizes? Experience of the riders shouldn't be an issue, as long as the more experienced riders watch out for us young'uns (so to speak) then those of us with less experience shouldn't be feeling out of our depth, plus there's the bonus of gaining more riding experience.

Great news about Tangmere and I'm all for getting 125s along. That will make it more of a challenge and more interesting for the media!

Once again I find myself in the minority. Please don't misunderstand me I'm all for raising money for a good cause and enjoying the social/sight seeing aspect of the event but I also want to enjoy it and I enjoy riding quickly. As those who have ridden with me know I'm not wreckless I just enjoy a bit of commitment.
Maybe it's my age or experience but I wouldn't want to ride that distance on a 125.
I think I may have come up with something though......

There was talk of two groups at the start of this.

Surely we can accomodate those that wish to make progress and those that wish to bimble........

I thought 2 groups would be more acceptable originally. I think we should have an aprox route in mind. And then just wait and see how many scoots are coming and what the cc's are. This ride is open to all cc's, in fact it's open to anyone who raises the sponsorship. Whatever you ride and however you ride I will try to accomodate you*

At the moment we are leaving Saturday morning, having a pic at Tangmere on Saturday and staying in Exeter Saturday night. Then riding to Lands End Sunday.

*I realise someone will post they ride a camel backwards

If you would like to volunteer to make a flyer then you are welcome mate. Razz emoticon

I would leave it until the end of the year though. There is no point handing out flyers too far in advance. I know Wonder is going to (rather generously) design us a wonderful patch too, so it would be nice to use that on the flyer too.

Nope, we can leave that until nearer the time when we know who is coming for sure. But I guess the most experienced.

i'll probably alternate between the two groups. i find when i'm fresh i like to cane it but as i get tired i appreciate a more sedate pootling speed. fighting the wind really takes it out of me and i do like the idea of a morning thrash and an afternoon bimble

Your welcome to meet up with me and Genie and ride down with us. I'm not too sure what the plan is in terms of doing a night in Margate or an early morning ride. Getting there looks simple enough A2 to Faversham then A299 and A23 into Margate. Google map it and get it to avoid motorways.

Marc - did you manage to check out my route suggestion? just curious if it's useful.

Yes I did mate. I have it saved in 'My Maps'

I am waiting to hear back from any other Museums etc. which would be good stopping points before confirming the route. We are not going to have much time for stops, so the more helpful the venue can be (taking a groups pic , parking, PR , fees etc.) the better.
