In an effort to get more comforatble seating position, I switched out my beautiful but uncomfortable GTV seat with a very nice GTS seat. Now that I look at it, the black seat matches all the black accents and I think looks really good.

Some year, long in the future, wouldn't it be nice to redo these in black leather????

Leather requires a lot of maintenance,
Better to have "Pleather" than leather.

I vote for leather. I would look great and with all the leather products available it shouldn't be a problem.

After a year of riding, I am now quite happy with my GTVs original leather seat as it 'broken in' and not the pain it once was. If others are considering swapping, I would suggest just giving it a bit of time...

It looks slick Zagato. I'm not sure which I prefer, visually, but they are both fine looks on your scoot!

IMHO the sand GTS seat and backrest pad looks more convincing. The black is litte harsh against the portofino.

I think [redacted], the Canadians in Viet Nam, have leather seat
covers in brown and black for less that 100$, they don't have the
cut for the hook in front of the seat if its there, but a steady hand and a sharp blade could do the trick.

So is the leather on the GTV scooter somehow different than say a bicycle seat? What I mean is one of the most sought after high quality bike seats is the Brooks leather seats. They are well known for being long lasting and super comfortable. Those that own them say the Brooks leather only require a once a month wipe with a conditioner/cleaner.Which takes just a couple of minutes. Just curious mostly,is there different types of leather and frequentcy needs for there cleaning/conditioning needs?

I had some cloth that was approximately the "sand" color and draped it over the seat when I was thinking about taking the leather off. The sand just didn't look quite right, maybe cause of the all the black bits. It just added another color.

There are quite a few threads on this I think the leather will last longer than the vinyl. I expect the vinyl to dry and crack while the leather should age more gracefully. Yes, you need to clean and condition the leather which I've been doing about once a month.

In about 40 years, I'll repaint the GTV in the original Portofino paint and put the leather seat back on for the "vintage" rides...

Oh, and the Brooks saddles are beautiful!!!

Looks great
Your new seat looks great, I swapped out my black seat for a custom Marine Yellow with white Vinyl I also added 4 inches of marine foam.
What you need to do next is add the foot rubber mat.8)

Brooks seats have very thick, very stiff leather. The GTV seat has very supple, quite thin leather. Could hardly be more different.

I love a good leather seat but found the GTV seat slippery. I converted my vinyl seat by adding a sheep skin pad. Cool in summer, warm in winter, not slippery, it breathes, and it was under $50. I highly recommend it.
