New here, is there any type of bike guards for the tipping thing? Looks like a possible bar could be mounted on the front frame behind wheels? Even if they only stuck out an inch more, could save plastic damage.

What tipping thing is that? If you're worried about it falling over, just don't let it!

Good morning G03. Welcome to the forum. Don't let one flippant answer ruin your day.

I do not recall anyone posting an install of the guards you are looking for. Many sport bike riders add them to their frames to protect against fairing and body damage in case of a spill or drop.

I'd check at a local dealer to see if there is an option that could be mounted on your scoot.

two days after purchase, my wife dropped my scoot, thinking she had "locked" the front. One drop, cracked the plastic front fairing, and knocked a reflector from the rear.

The guards you seek could have saved a lot of damage. If you find something that works, please share with the rest of us.

Think he is asking about "Frame Sliders" that are used on sport bikes in case they lay it down, it stops it from sliding on the plastic.

Check these out to get an idea of what he is talking about www.kneedraggers.com/list/1411 & this one http://tinyurl.com/mqx8s9

No, and fabrication of one would be intense along with the installation. Holes would need to be drilled through the panels to mount bars that would attach to the frame in the appropriate place.

Which is why the op - 'guards for a tipping thing' - read like humor, and got my reply: don't drop it.

I can't see how there could be drop guards that would do much given the configuration of the scooter but that would hardly prevent anyone bent on accomplishing the fabrication of such. And no pun intended. The front frame doesn't really look like it would take substantial point-load impacts from placing guard pegs on it but analysis could be done and perhaps some useful modifications made. Biggest problem methinks is the handlebars, they would likely take the brunt of a drop.

Anyways, if there's anyplace you will find potential info on this issue, this is the place; flippancy aside. Welcome to the forum and three-wheeled scooting, G03.

Quik look, the "Y" at the frame could possibly clamp with two "pipe U clamps". Very tight. Thought 1/2 emt with 110 degree bends on each end, and just sticking out about an inch more then the fairing piece. Would not stop a full fast drop, but could help a slow roll down. Picking mine up monday night. Maybe this week I can guess more. Thanks.

No reason not to work your own mods, we all do. However, 1/2" EMT will bend way too easily and likely slide with just clamps. Try heavywall or sched 40 pipe, drill holes in it where you will clamp it and add some cross piece like heavy gauge nail wire through the pipe and clamp to help prevent the pipe from moving crossways on impact. Maybe if you work it enough you will develop a solution for something no one else has... good luck!!

Have a great time on your new scooter. I can't remember the last time I had so much fun as when I brought mine home the l-o-o-o-n-g way...
