Well, I'm pretty new here, but I'm going to give this a shot. My wife and I are a couple months into our first scooter experience. We are planning our first trip for this weekend. About 250 miles over two days with a couple stops to visit family along the way. I've included a link and will attempt to post photos along the way.

Looks like a great ride! I was just in your neck of the woods last month and did the first leg of your journey in reverse (Port Townsend to Whidbey Island). Took Highway 20 all the way across to Idaho. It's my new favorite road, especially the section through North Cascades National Park. Spectacular!

Looking forward to your pics.

Hwy 20 through the north cascades has to be one of the prettiest two-lane routes in the country! You passed within a rocks throw from our place (midway between Whidbey Island and the mountains). We''ll be sticking a little closer to home for awhile, but my wife is getting better (and braver) by the day. We're still learning our way around without the interstate and this is our first attempt to go over night. If the riding season was just a little longer in Washington...

The weather was a little cool to start the first day, but got to be quite nice for the remainder of the trip. We had not been to Bremerton in many years and they've done a really nice job of fixing up the waterfront area. Here are a few more pictures from the second half...

Oops, that's only one. Here are the others...
The start back...
Water front park near the ferry terminal, Bremerton.
A little hazy, but by Seattle standards, very nice!
Doughnuts should generally be avoided. However, if your in Everett and must indulge... Henry's on Broadway
The Skagit River in Mt. Vernon. Just a few miles from home.

Thanks for the inspiration. Just did a slightly shorter version of your ride today. Seattle across to Whidbey, up to Anacortes, over to the 9 through Arlington, and back down to Seattle via Bothell. I am doing the Seattle Leavenworth Ellensburg Seattle route next time!

Hey thats my neck of the woods! I work in downtown B-town and have been watching it blossom, I really encourage folks from that side of the water to pay a visit, not just a grungy navy town anymore So how was the ride between Pt Townsend and Bremerton? I got my scooter about a month and a half ago and have been wanting to do a trip before the weather turns and PT is one of my favorite little towns.

We have traveled many times on the penisula and enjoy getting away from the I-5 madness. The ride from PT to Bremerton was pretty good. We drove down on a Sunday afternoon and the traffic was a little heavy (not to my wife's liking). I was able to find a few back roads, but the area around the Hoods canal bridge can't be avoided and it was very busy. My wife is still really new to riding and has said she will not make that ride again any time soon. We will go back as far as Port Townsand\Sequim.

Very nice, makes me homesick (Olympia area 20+ years). Thats some great riding, and the royal treatment when on 2 wheels on the Washington State Ferries.
Nice report.

Your ride to Sequim
Hi,

Just ran across your posting. I ended up in your neck of the woods on my ride today. Started in Mukilteo and took a bunch of backroads to Granite Falls for breakfast. Then up the Jordan road and on into Darrington. From there rode to Rockport then into Sedro Wooley then up the Cook Road across I-5 then more backroads home. We should meet up sometime, love riding up there.

Boy, it wasn't the best weather around here for a ride on the holiday weekend. Were you able to stay dry? My scooter stayed in all weekend while I took the car to Bumbershoot. I'm hoping to talk my wife into a ride this coming weekend, weather permitting. She's pretty much a fair weather, new rider. I will be heading back to school in a couple weeks and my play time will start to be very limited again. Let's hope we have some nice fall weather (at least some dry days...)
