I just received my Motorola BlueTooth Helmet headset HS830 yesterday. I tried it out today and I have to say I am very happy with the way it works. It was very easy to set up and install on the helmet. I have a half helmet and I do get some wind noise at speed, (the speaker is velcro'd to the ear flap on my HH) but I am sure with a 3/4 or FF it will sound even better. The unit can be moved from helmet to helmet if you get the additional mounting plates. The unit comes with a neckstrap holder for use when you are off the bike. Battery life is listed at 6 hours of talk time and up to 120 hours of standby time. It can also be used as a 2 way radio with another headset for passenger use. I found the unit on Amazon.com for $79.99, almost half the cost at other places I have seen on the web and locally. I would reccomend this this item if you need a bluetooth unit.

all the componants laid out.

The TX/RX unit in the mount, it is removable for charging and for use with the neck strap.

the neck strap assembly with speaker bud and mic.

Helmet speaker. With a 3/4 or FF helmet, it will be easier to hear. I use a Half Helmet and at 60mph I can still hear the speaker. Barely !

All ready to go. Works great :)

Now that's really cool. How does that part connect to the outside of the helmet? I assume it would work with any bluetooth enable phone.

The mount uses an adhesive to attach it to the helmet, double sided tape. the shell is removable and can be used with differant helmets. I have another mount on the way for my new 3/4 hlemet.

Can you take the actually bluetooth module and use it without the helmet and the big boom mic? In other words, could I detach it and use it at my desk - does it fit on the ear?

It will work with any helmet and any bluetooth phone. The unit comes with a pendant style lanyard for off bike use. It works great. I just wish it had a little more volume for an open faced helmet. I can't hear the speaker over 60mph. I also have seen them on the net for about $35.00 now. Shop around and you'll find one.
