So I'm moving to Chapel Hill from Culpeper VA and I really want to do the 250 mile trip on my fly 150 but I can't really figure out my route. I did the whole google map and mapquest thing but I don't want to carry around a small novel of directions and I was hoping one of my brain trust (you guys) could prescribe a safe and simple route. I understand that the safest way to do this would be in the back of a pickup truck but I got this scooter to get into adventures and this would be a good one. Thanks in advance!

Looks like US 15/360 to South Boston, followed by US 501 to Chapel Hill would work. If you want even less traveled roads, then it's gonna take a fair chunk of navigation

Well there's really no way to avoid highways,
But 29 to 501 is a better bet. 360 is a nasty piece of highway and a major truck route. |

Looking for the next one, probably electric

U.S. route 1 from Alexandria to Henderson then wander over to CH? Wear lots of conspicuous clothing.
I spent a lot of time semi-lost in that neck of the woods a long time ago. Rt. 1 is a little bigger now. |

I live in Ashburn, Va. and my brother lives in South Boston area, I would take Rt. 29 to 501 as suggested above.

I live in Raleigh and work in Chapel Hill and make the trip on my GTS often. I also drive to Henderson about every 3-4 months, but do it mainly on the highway. There are numerous back roads, but you would have to either have a GPS or carry a lot of pages of printed maps. From Raleigh to Chapel Hill, you can take TW Alexander to Miami, to 54 straight into Chapel Hill. Feel free to contact me for more info.
